Hey Guys,
We're Katrin and Till from Germany and today I want to introduce you a bit to our travels. At the moment we're in Mexico (Baja California)and on our way to Argentina. We're on the road now for a bit more than one year and travelled through Canada, Cuba and the US West coast so far. We went skiing in winter in Oregon and Washington, explored the desert in New Mexico and Nevada and had a lot fun on Moab 4wd trails.
We mostly travel off season with all it's pros and cons. But we like to explore all the little spots that are not a Top 10 Travelbook attraction.
Our camper is a self converted LandCruiser J7 TroopCarrier. I built it up over about 3 years, sandblasted the frame, designed and built the interior and fitted it out with a lot of useful gear like the pop-up roof, bumpers and winch and a lot more.
Everyone who's interested can follow us on Facebook or have a look on our new Instagram account.
We try to keep you up to date with pics and videos. At the moment I'm working on a video series where I try to explain the details of our Troopy. Part 1 should be online on YouTube in a few weeks.
If you have any questions we'll be glad to answer.
Have fun

Greetings from Baja California

Wow, 80 Pop Tops are really rare in Europe. Looks awesome...but, yes, the 70 has more space...but you have the comfort...:)

Hi Till and Katrin - Great meeting up with you in San Juanico! You really need to show off some pictures of the inside of your rig - really, really impressive. Heard some waves came through the day after we left!:bang: Always a reason to go back :bounce: Safe travels!

Hi,
Yes, it was really cool to meet you too...great vehicle guys.
I'll try to post some pictures and we're making a video series at the moment where we explain our vehicle. First part with exterior is ready and will be online in a few days...
Have a nice evening

Yes, it's the perfect trip. We enjoy it so much and love to have no limited timeframe. That's the best. You can enjoy and stay where you like it...only visas are a kind of a limiting factor...:)

Hi Katrin and Till,
we traveled the Baja too, parts in a Corolla and some parts in a Jeep.
We never could make a trip longer than six weeks, so we had to rent.
Other parts of South America , Central America too and a lot USA.
Traveled Australia twice in a LC 75 Camper, love this car for trips.
Enjoy your adventure, have fun and go slow :)
Cheers
Peter

Just saw your licence plate is HU = Hanau
I was born in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen and lived there and in Neu-Isenburg, long time ago.
Hope you have enough Äppelwoi in your Land Cruiser.
Ohne Äppelwoi is alles doof, haha :)
Cheers
Peter

Yeah, that's the nice thing about having no time limit. You can stay where you like it and don't have to watch the clock. Also, we rather skip an attraction instead of rushing away from a nice place. There's so much to see that's not mentioned in a Travelbook.
But anyway, 6 weeks are more than most people have for holidays, so it's still a lot of time for getting some impressions of a country.

Hi guys, great trip! We decided to go to Asia because it was cheaper haha, but I have this sort of trip in mind for later.
Did you take the car ferry from Hamburg?

How long can you stay in USA and Canada and can you leave your car there for a longer period, for example when you (have to) fly back?

Hi, what a cool Hiace...love these cars.
You can ship from Hamburg to Canada or the US. I would go for Canada because it's easier and they don't register your car. So usually you are only allowed to have the car one year inside the NAFTA Zone which is CA, US and Mexico. But if you ship to Canada and have an insurance, no one cares and your time of stay depends on your visa. So you can stay a year and fly back home etc.
But it's a great trip.
How's Asia? Is it easy to travel. Could be something for us as well...:)
Have fun

Well Asia is a big place haha. Asia can be hectic and dangerous, but a lot of countries are very easy and safe. I would say one of the safer continents to travel. However, more restrictions are coming (for south-eastern Asia). And we also went through countries like Pakistan, which is a bit of a mess but doable.

But in countries like US and Canada, once you're out of the cities and into the nature, it should be safe as well. And easy to travel. While still offering lots of natural beauty.

We're probably not going to do the super long (1 year or more) trips anymore, so it would be interesting to ship the car to north-america and come back once in a while, while the car is still there.
