I'll share some of my embarrassment and misfortune with you for your entertainment. Hopefully I can get a little advice as well.

So I just purchased a 05 LX with 105k last week. Vehicle was in mint (stock) condition aside from a small amount of rust underneath. Primary purpose of the car is a dd for my wife and hauling the fam safely around the elk infested mountain town we live in. I planned to do a modest build of bigger tires, roof rack, and front bumper, but due to finances probably not until next year.....well until I just tore off my front bumper!

We were driving up a local forest service road so I could show the wife what her new car was capable of. The road really wasn't anything the vehicle couldn't handle, but when we got to a point where I was ready to turn around disaster struck. I was executing a three point turn on the road and didn't see a fallen log along the side. As I was backing up, the front end swung over this log and caught a little nub sticking out off it and it pulled the bumper half off. Words and looks were exchanged. Limped back to the house and I used the hot water trick to get most of the dent out and strung the bumper back on enough to drive but it's not pretty anymore.

At this point, it's time for a bumper upgrade. So what looks good on the LX? I like the looks of the TMJ T13 because of the full headlight and grill protection but don't know how it lines up on the LX. Lightweight would be nice; I've done several searches and some people have said I'd need to adjust the AHC to compensate for the weight of the bumper? No plans to put a winch or additional lighting on it, so that's not a factor. Anyways, any advice would be great! Thanks!

Looks good, but somewhat of a pain to install the sub-frame mount, etc., compared to how easy the 80 Series went on. Did it by myself, so not that complex, just tedious. I'm a one-banana guy.

No issue with AHC, though you could fine-tune the front pressures if needed. I'd see where they stand before you do the install. Really need to know AHC pressures, etc. as part of your baseline in any case.

Tons of photos via Google search: tjm t13 lx470

Wish you were closer, I'd just sell you my OEM bumper. ;-)

Ouch, not the most pleasant first outing in the big beast! You should have a look through the "100 series photo" thread (if you haven't already) a heap of LX's with a variety of front bumpers. ARB or Slee would be my preference.

And you are right about it affecting the AHC, I eventually removed mine because it would default to low setting when too heavily loaded, very frustrating when you're travelling on a track requiring high clearance. Good luck and enjoy it, they're a damn beast when set up right.

The Dissent bumper is a great option: nice looking, well designed; and it's lighter than most others with out sacrificing strength.

I think the net gain in weight is 60lbs +\- so you may not have to mess with adjusting your AHC pressures with this bumper.

Too bad someone doesn't make an aluminum bumper for our beasts. I use to have a Dodge dually 4x4 CTD they make several good looking heavy duty aluminum bumpers for them that are as strong as steel

Dissent front bumper base weight is 105lbs without any hoops.
Close, that is the shipping weight including all packaging, the base bumper without hoops is about
90lbs, about 60lbs over stock like said above, the full bull bar adds about 25lbs.
