Stick on an oil pan heater.

go with a wabasco and be done with it... more money but once it is there you are done and you can change it to another vehicle if you sell yours...

When I needed a heater for my 3B, I just popped a frost plug and took it into the local NAPA. They had one that fit in stock. Was running in no time.

back from the dead...

Woke up to 5 deg F this morning, and, needless to say, the 1HZ smoked a little (ok, A LOT) when i started it up. So, in mys searches i have found this and circulatory (sp?) block heater with a thermostat so i can leave it on all night. Think about the 1000W one, seems like a good price. Any thoughts?

are the oil pan heaters better?

Looks good. I dont know why that would be any better or worse than an oil pan heater. My TDI Jetta and 2L samurai start so much faster/easier when the oil is 145 degrees!

I've run oil and coolant heaters... both can be effective... only the coolant heater will give imeadiate heat for comfort and windshield defrosting power. Both will find their way onto my cruiser this year.

There several styles and brands... some even mount in the lower radiator hose.
