1HDFT fueling issues, lack of power. Missing parts off fuel pump?

Hey blokes after some much needed advice. I finally converted my 1hz to 1hdft. Took it for its first drive a few days ago. She was running perfect till I got to a hill and she was powering up it fine, got high boost then she lost all power and the engine stalled out. Sat there for a bit and she started again? Possibly air in line?
Another issue is after taking over an hour to nurse it a 15 minute drive to get home. I hear something come loose then see parts fly off down the road. Something came loose and fell off the fuel pump? I have no idea what it is, a governer? All I could find was a spring sitting in the middle of the road. Much help would be appreciated so I know what new parts to buy for the pump and what I can try to fix the issues. Before I ride the fuel pump off all together.

Search for threads that mention ACSD or Automatic Cold Start Device.

There's a lever arm that the ACSD acts on. I think that's what's missing.

What's the wetness all over the pump? Diesel?

Do I need the ACSD

And yeah it is diesel I was priming the line to make sure I had diesel coming out of it and spilled a little.

Probably not.
Its supposed to help with cold starting.
I didn't think 1HZ had the ACSD, but may be wrong.
In Australia, if you're in cold weather, cycling the glow plugs two or three times before hitting start is probably sufficient to help with starting in the cold.

What's been done to your pump? It's got a boost compensator on it. Was that fitted to the 1HZ pump?

ACSD is often removed, because the can fail inside the pump which leaves shrapnel loose in the pump.
This means pump gets destroyed.

It's a 1hdft mate I converted the 1hz to the ft. But thanks for the info I had no idea the ACSD was even a thing. I'll just leave it off and maybe delete it in the future

Missed that you'd done a conversion.
That's cool.

Maybe air in the fuel.

Check that all your fuel hoses are secure, not hard and cracked. Not over tightened and deformed with worm drive clamps.
Check filter is secure.

If it's a hd-ft, you definitely won't need ACSD in Australia. It should fire on the first compression stroke everytime.

Is the pump a 1hd-ft pump? And 1hd-ft injectors?
If you have a 1hd-t pump, and 1hd-ft injectors or visa versa they work on different injection pressure.

Did you set the timing on the pump with a dial gauge? Or just work to marks on the housings?

Some did, some didn't. Depends on market (or more correctly, depends on the climate in any given market). My last 1HZ was from Europe and had one. In Australia I'd be surprised if anyone there has ever seen one. Delete it, cover the hole with a plate, loop the hoses. You'll never miss it.

That said, you might want to remove it sooner rather than later just to check if the pin has sheared off--which is apparently how they fail. I'm a little surprised to see the nut and spring has come off while you were driving as they're usually pretty secure on there. :hmm:

I think I fixed it, the inlet house from the fuel filter to the pump was perished and split on the ends. Cut the hose back new clamps and she's running mint again 👌

The pump and injectors are original, the motor was imported out of Japan. Hence why I'm guessing it had the ACSD on the pump?

Anyhow thanks for the advice mate, it's much appreciated 👍

Well it's lucky I posted about it on this forum before I took it somewhere here and they told me it was ****ed 🤣

I'll get onto deleting it, one less thing to go wrong
