Some owners reported replacing the BEB on their 1HD FTEs 2 and 3 times. It was vastly improved over the 1HDT ,but not entirely eliminated.
Toyota mechanics privately acknowledged they had repaired others with BEB problems to some owners.
Are you aware of any catastrophic failures of ft bearings?

In couple of cases they showed advanced signs of wear at 100000klms .I seem to remember a woman saying theirs had been done in their 100 series at 100k,200k and 300k.
Some owners were forced into a contract of silence to get the repairs done so its not easy to get the full story.
If they are severely worn at 100000klms ,then another 20000-30000klm would be close to catastrophic as far as the crank goes.

Yes I remember those too. But I can show you plenty of engines with crank bearings showing excessive wear. I don't currently know any FT owners, but I know plenty of FTE owners and they're all over 200,000km, some are even over 300,000km.

It's the catastrophic failure that was special to the 1HD-T and that has been fixed.

Dougal, if they show heavy wear at 100000klms, then catastrophic failure is just around the corner. Im not saying none of them had catastrophic failure but to get Toyota to set things right ,owners had to keep their mouths shut. You can draw your own conclusions from that.
You may very well know owners who own vehicles with high klms and no problems ,but you dont know all of the owners, and there were a small number of them that had issues.

Sorry to resurect this thread - but I just bought a 1hd-fte, and read through this. I would have thought BEB was due to driving habits? IE not changing down gears?
