I couldn't replicate it to take a video, but I turned my truck off this morning and pulled they key and the engine kept running. It felt like half the cylinders were firing and it was shuttering pretty bad, but it kept running like this until I cranked it again and turned it off.
Anyone else experienced this?

I have on a 12ht. The starter engaged. Bad wiring to starter, bad ground. Not saying that’s your problem but a starting point so to speak.

Also, check your oil to make sure it’s not contaminated with diesel. If your engine kept injecting unburned fuel….

Pull the battery posts to kill the starter,l.
Keep a wrench or sockets handy.

Rebuild or buy a new starter.

Your injection pump could be in need of new seals or a complete rebuild. Could be letting enough fuel out to keep the engine somewhat running after the ignition is shut off.

shutoff valve on the pump or electrical wireing issue on the injection pump..

some times you can kill the motor by turning the key off and taping on the solonoid

Fuel cut solenoid or wiring to it as above. The only difference between "on" and "off" on this generation of diesels is whether the fuel cut solenoid is open or not. Once the engine is running it's all mechanical, just sucking in fuel and air. The fuel cut-off solenoid stops the flow of fuel, which stops the engine. It's one 12v wire, grounded through the engine. Either the solenoid is getting power with the ignition in the off position, or its not closing fully when its supposed to.
