Will an early A442F hydraulic transmission work with a 1HD-FT engine or does the engine require the electronic version of the A442F?

You plan on swapping engines for 20hp?

1HDFT is completely mechanical engine, will work the same way as the 1HDT using the kickdown mechanism on the pump. FT has more advantages then just HP. its 24valve vs 12valve, runs smoother and quiter. More receptive to power adders and tuning.

Has a lot more than that if you adjust the pump, the FT in factory tune is really hampered by the emissions at the time compared to the DT. Also can go well over 300hp quite easily whereas the sh1tbox DT can barely make 200hp.

Without starting an argument, my 1HDT made 215 rwhp without too much trouble 🤪

On a more relevant note, play with the boost compensator and the FT becomes very crisp, they're watered down stock for emissions reasons. Healthy stock FT pump should be good for 160 rwkw.
