I know the 1FZ-FE was not originally mated to a H42/H55F tranny but rather an A442 (I think) auto tranny.

My quesiton is, other than the work requried to do it, how hard would it be to make a bell housing to mount a H series tranny to the 1FZ-FE?

I suppose the choice is make a "plate" with a change in bolt pattern or make a whole new weld together bellhousing.

Any other issues why the engine wouldn't fit in a 60? Height, width, etc.? I am not worried about the electronics, etc, just getting it clear the firewall and hood.

Hi All:

The 1FZ-E was offered with a five speed transmission in some markets, such as Venezuela. Not sure whether it was the H55F or one of the variations of the 151 Series transmissions.

Have you checked with Spector Off-Road? They seem to have everything and anything (at a price, of course!)

Good luck!

Alan

Hi some help ..

The H151 come factory in the 1FZ-FE and in the 1HD-T engines .. late 7* series with the 1HZ also come with the R151 ..

The 1HZ ( that share the same bolt pathern that the 1HD-T and 1FZ-FE ) come with H55F tranny and the HF1A t-case on the 70 cruisers pre 90 ..

It means if that you found the Bellhousing ( never search in my EPC ) you can bolt an H151 with a 2H engine ..

The issue it's the 2H use a 275mm clutch and the 1FZ-FE and 1HD-T 300mm clutch ..

The Other issue are the tranny input shafts that in the 1HZ are 21 fine splines and in the 1HD-T are 14 IIRC ..

Wiring must be a headache also...

But it would be the perfect petrol engine for the 60!

Some of the SouthAmerican and African Landcruiser have carbed 1FZ ,so surely they would have no electrics on the gearbox.
I think the H150 has no electrics and the H151 does, the "1" denoting the dfference.

Other than the electronics, is there any problem just throwing the entire FJZ80 driveline in? Engine, Auto, transfer case?

Only problem I see is the full time AWD?

Wiring isn't too big a concern, it is the other stuff...

EDIT:
Looks like you can get a part time 4WD/2WD kit at Slee:
Slee - Drivetrain - Drive Shafts

I will go with part time all the way or at least remove the rear of the HF2AV .. the VC .. and run with the CDL activated .. quite easy.

It sounds like it is a fairly easy swap ?

Transfer case drops on the passenger side, new motor mounts, new t-case mount, drive shaft mods, wiring...

Am I missing anything stupid obvious like I need to do an SOA to clear the engine, t-case drops are wrong, etc??

Why has no one else went this route??
