1f timing issue

Hi all, i have a 70 fj 40 and me an my dad are restoring it for me to drive to school with it. We fired it for the first time a couple if weeks ago and it purrs like a kitten at idle. However when u give it gas it studders until u get it to the rpm that the petal is at. Any segestions? Thanks

Have you actually put a timing light on it yet? Half of timing issues are really carburetor problems...

Sounds like your timing is at TDC. Try 7 degrees BTDC.
