** SOLD ** 1997 LX450 171k Supercharged, OME, 4x4 Labs, Slee, Metaltech, & more

**11/10/13** LX has been sold and is currently enjoying it's new home. Thanks again Pete, I am glad everything is working out for you.

I would like to thank everyone that helped me with figuring out what I should sell my vehicle for. I took a lot of pictures today, but I did not time to clean/wash it up. It has a little mud and crud on it from my last trip to Reno last week. Here is the link to all the pictures, sorry for the poorer quality, they came from my iPhone.

In a nutshell, here is what you are looking at:

1997 Lexus LX450

Asking price $16,500 for everything (except fridge/winch stuff/cargo barrier)

Mileage -
171,419 This will go up a little as I do drive it at least once a week to keep everything rolling around.

Suspension -
OME Heavy/Heavy with OME steering stabilizer and Slee Off Road Heavy Duty Lower Control Arms. Slee Blue 3 deg bushings were installed in the front for caster correction.

Armor -
Slee Off Road Shortbus front bumper
4x4 Labs Rear bumper with tire carrier, hilift jack mount, 3 gas can or cooler holder and ladder
Metaltech sliders
Iron Pig Off Road skid plate.

Engine -
TRD Supercharger installed at approximately 145k by Robbie A. (Powderpig) along with PM service of replacing the headgasket & rebuilding the head. At the same time the fuel filter and several vsv's were replaced curing the PITA P401 code. The radiator was replaced with a new old style one several years ago along with all the cooling system components water pump, hoses, etc. The PHH has been bypassed with a full length Samco hose. Haven't had a problem with it since then.
There is a Landtank MAF unit on there too.
A Safari Snorkel was also installed.
The exhaust was upgraded to 3" tubing and hi flow catalytic converters. The main muffler is a flowmaster and the secondary was is something else to reduce the resonating and drone which it does quite well. I do have the original catalytic converters and will include those as well. These aren't the original 1997 ones, but were replaced about a year or so before I supercharged the engine as someone came by and cut my original ones off.

Gears -
There are 5.29s installed with the factory e-lockers. The axles and brakes were serviced at the same time with all bearings, pads, and rotors being replaced at that time. The Pin 7 mod was also done with the push button switch on the dash put in.

Tires -
Toyo MT 315 75 R16 with a lot of tread left. They have been siped for extra traction for driving during the winter to Reno.

Interior -
The steering wheel was replaced with a new one from Shane (AAtlas) as well as new leather for the front & middle seats. The fronts were installed, but the middle row was not. I also have a new piece of leather for the center console that was not installed yet. The front and middle row seats are covered with Specter Off Road Tough Duck covers in tan that match pretty well. The third row of seats have been removed, but are in Specter Off Road storage bags to prevent them from being damaged or getting dirty.
There is a Scan Gauge mounted above the mirror. The visors also stay up on there own still. There is a custom sunshade included too.
The stock radio was removed and a Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD receiver was installed. I still have the stock radio and will include it. The CD changer is still installed, but does not work with the aftermarket radio. I have 2 CD changer magazines as well.
The floormats are all original OEM, but the fronts are starting to show a little age. The middle row looks new and there is an extra one included. The rear cargo area mat looks brand new and is covered up with a rubber mat. I doubt the carpet in the back has ever seen the sun or dirt for that matter.
I had a Clifford alarm installed. They, the shop, told me the factory alarm is still there, but just not active. It was working at the time of the new one being installed. The Clifford has a remote start feature which is nice in the winter time.

Spare Parts & Extra things -
I am also including the factory service manual, the factory electrical diagram manual, and a factory parts catalog. Also included is the dreaded Haynes manual.
Extra parts that I have are 8 Lexus center caps. There are 5 on the vehicle currently. All would need to be refinished. I do have the paint & clearcoat for these and will be including that too. Extra belts, some new, some used. Oil Drain plug gaskets, allen wrench drain plugs, more drain plug gaskets, factory front tow hooks, clear protection pieces for the stock headlights, excellent condition Lexus left & right headlight units, the original silencer exhaust piece, an old power antenna unit, and a ton of other things too.
The hi lift jack that is mounted on the back is also included, but Kermit is not :p
The lug nuts are all locking ones and there are 4 more locking ones which 3 are for the spare and 1 is for the jack.

1/7/13 updates...

Forgot I had spare driveshafts for the front & rear. They were bought used, but they look to be in excellent condition. These will also be included.

Other items...
I do have a few other things that are NOT included. These would be a new Raingler cargo net barrier, an ARB Freezer/Fridge, and a Viking Off-Road fairlead and winchline both of which are new. Perhaps the buyer and I could make a deal on some or all of these items.

The bad...there is always the bad...

There are a few oil leaks, nothing major, just a few drops.
The clearcoat/paint on the driver side rear fender flare is peeling and or gone in spots.
The front passenger fender flare is pulling out at the top, I do have a replacement fender flare though.
The engine hood paint is fading a little towards the back, but its not too bad.
There are a few scratches and some very minor dings in the doors, but nothing too major.
The driver side front running light has a little crack in it, noticed that this morning.
The windshield is the original one and has a few small chips, but they were repaired using the safelight glass people epoxy system. They haven't become any larger since then.
The windows are a little slow in going up when its cold, but are okay when it's not 12-20 degrees.
One of the wheels has a scrape on it that might have been caused by the tire shop. I am currently working with them to get it fixed.

I love my truck and I am in no hurry to get rid of it, but I just don't have the time anymore to drive it to the places I built it for. I am in the hunt for a specific 100 series and hopefully can find it so I can continue living in the Land Cruiser world :D

If you have any questions or want to see it, let me know. The vehicle is currently in Fremont, CA and is registered in Nevada.

Thanks for your time and interest.

PM's work but, I'm sure my box will fill up eventually so my email is jmkuhry AT gmail DOT com

Thanks,

Jon

I would be interested, pending sale of my FJC. I am in Sacramento.

Can you detail some of the recent maintenance? HG? Birfs? Etc.? It will affect the price.

Nice offering....wish I could afford it.

As much as it pains me to say it (because it's well out of my range)

I think (pending other info) that's a 5 digit truck - $10K-$13K

I think we all know you couldn't build it for $13K, so why give it away? If it's as nice as it looks and no rust, I'd hold out for $16K minimum!(IMHO):D

It has a ton going for it, don't get me wrong...(especially with all that new leather waiting to go on and the 5.29's already in)

but 170k with an SC is 170K with an SC.

Was the Supercharger on the motor the whole time or was it recently added?

Understood. Perhaps we can meet up on a weekend or something if your FJC sells.

Headgasket and the head was redone around 145k by Robbie aka Powderpig. The supercharger was installed at that time as well. Robbie replaced the fuel filter and replaced some of the VSV valves that caused the typical P401 error.

As far as I can tell, there isn't any rust. It has been a California/Nevada vehicle all it's life. It also lives in a garage :p Thanks for your advice.

The supercharger was added around 145k when the head was pulled by powderpig and replaced and the head was rebuilt. The gasket never failed, it was just some PM and the supercharger seemed like a good idea at the time. I don't regret it as it made the truck a whole new animal. It's nice to be able to go to Reno on cruise control the entire way. No downshifting or anything going up Donner Summit.

I also did the pin 7 mod so it has the push button for the center lock. Forgot to add that.

As for the other maintenance. The axles were serviced with new bearings and rotors/pads and everything there were done when the 5.29's went in. It's probably been several years since I've had to do anything.

I also have the hi lift jack (extreme version? it's grey/silver instead of red) that is mounted on the back. Also included are locking lug nuts for each lug nut (24) of them and there are 3 on the spare and one locking the hi lift too.

The exhaust has been modified to 3" from the stock and has aftermarket high flow cats. My original cats were stolen several years ago and insurance paid to have it replaced. I have the OEM cats that were taken off after the supercharger work was done. The increase in power was noticeable.

The truck is currently registered in Nevada, but my county does not have smog. It did pass the last time it was registered in California though.

I was going to try to get it washed & cleaned today to take some pictures, but I ran out of time. I'm not sure the weather will hold up tomorrow. But, I can take some pictures if anyone wants anything specific.

I also removed the roof rack and put some stainless button head bolts in and siliconed over them.

If there are any other questions or comments, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,

Jon

All due respect...if Robbie Antonson did the HG and did the head on the truck, then that is what you should lead with...not kissing his ass, but he is widely known as the best mechanic on the face of the planet regarding 80 series Land Cruisers. Also good to know that all that was done in preparation for the SC. That makes a big difference...instead of just slapping it on an untouched, medium/high mileage rig.

Took a bunch of pictures today. With the exception of a few items in the pictures, everything is included with the truck. The exceptions are the ARB fridge/freezer, the viking fairlead & winch rope, and the raingler cargo net. I would be willing to include these for an additional price.

Hopefully this link will work.

Any idea if those aftermarket cats will pass smog in CA?

I would imagine it would pass, if not, the stock OEM converters are included in the sale to put back on. I would think the new technology with more material would make the truck run cleaner.

Jon

Again a really well put together rig.
Your license plate frame brings back memories of great times in the high desert!
Best of luck on the sale.

Thanks ;p

My boss went there and got me the license plate frame. The frame & plate will not be going with the vehicle though.

Beautiful build. Nearly exactly my dream 80 (minus the Lexus livery, but that's just me). GLWS. Wish I had the means.

Friday eve bump.

I am open to offers as well. Just nothing ridiculous lol.

Bedtime Saturday bump 8-)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
