Just getting started on this new project, it’s a
(1997 HZJ75 Fire Truck)
I have pretty much stayed in my lane on FJ45’s but always wanted to build one of these low mileage Fire Trucks.

This was about three hours away from me in Oregon. A fella who owned a big ranch bought it last year about this time. He then decided it wasn’t going to work for him on the ranch.

Process started to remove all the fire equipment. Kinda ironic since I retired from the fire department. Didn’t really think I’d be working on a fire engine again. 😳😀

It’s just amazing but not surprising how well these trucks are maintained. All the rubber is completely soft and in great shape. Even through it only has about 12,000 miles on, it was regularly maintained and driven.

What does pto drive? Pump?

Yes the pump.

Thanks Beno, I appreciate the help. The 70 world is a new adventure for me. I have almost All 😀45 part numbers memorized but not so much with the 70 series.

Nolan, most of the fire stuff went to a Firefighter friend. I did keep a few things like the wind siren to wake up my neighbors. Just like old home week. That wind up siren is why my hearing aid doctor loves me. The Fire Service was hard on my ears even with hearing protection. 😀

I have all of the 70 series stuff we took off like the front bumper and side pieces with the brackets. Is there something you are looking for ?

Regards
Mark

The plan is to finish getting all the fire equipment off especially that 150+ lb weight under the front lip. 😀

Then a complete fluid change, new timing belt, hoses, belts etc.

Haven’t decided on a bed yet. I have a couple of these new 79 series beds but Summit Expeditions up in BC makes a really nice aluminum Trey.

Me too, but I do like the option of having a modular system on this one.

So it’s a double cab. Is that a double cab bed you have ? Can’t tell. Would it be straight bolt in?

Tray is really cool.
