Hey all and thank you in advance for any help!

I was cleaning up the engine bay of excess gunk in my '91 FJ80 with a 3-FE and A440F when I noticed a wiring connector without a mate. The connector is a male, triangular shaped, with three pins, only two of which are used (one blocked), and a yellow wire and red wire with a white stripe. The connector is on a short bit of housing located on the passenger-side firewall near the starter. I cannot see any missing connections in the area. The car starts fine and everything else seems to work, but I haven't done a full check or taken it out for a drive.

I searched this site and noted two threads that seems to show the same connector, but their's too are disconnected...

See the second photo of this thread. The first photo is the starter wire. No resolution is offered for the disconnected wire.
Where fo these wires go 3fe

The other thread is more promising, showing the harness in the Electrical Wiring Routing PDF:
Page 19 shows the O 1 = O\D Solenoid
Page 98 shows a pic of the O 1 connector
3fe Unknown wire connector

However, this does not show where the O/D Solenoid wire is routed from the transmission. I've been looking with a bright flashligh from above and below and cannot see the missing connection. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!

Cheers, Marc

That is connector O1 for the OD solenoid.
On the A440F that is part of the cruise control circuit. It is supposed to unlock the torque converter in certain conditions when driving with cruise control.
FWIW, I've had mine disconnected for at least 15 years with no ill effects.
If you must have it, the mating connector should be just above the starter on the right side.
Basically, it does nothing of any use.

John,

Thank you for the quick reply! I was hoping to hear from you , since I have utmost faith in your knowledge of all things related to the 1991-1992 Cruisers.

Seems like I'll have to reach even further behind the starter than I already did to find the mating connection for the cruise control circuit. If not, no big deal, since cruise control has not worked since before my ownership and I never really miss it. I believe the CC problem is related to a broken hall-effect sensor in any event. Guess I should look for any new fixes that may be out there out there :)

Thanks again, Marc
