For sale is my 1991 FJ80 camper project. 2/3 cut body with custom aluminum exoskeleton frame with composite honeycomb panels. I stretched the rear of the 80 chassis 3 inches to provide room for a 35" spare under the camper. Aluminum subframe mounted with marine motor mounts to the 80 chassis. Body allows for a queen size bed to be installed above the roof area. This camper is very similar to the Green one I posted a while back but with a better designed outer skeleton for cleaner lines. This setup is also lighter than the original I built. 85-90% of camper fabrication is completed, all of the difficult cutting, aligning, etc has already been done. I have the panel and hinge mechanism for the roof but the sheetmetal portion (or whatever you chose) still needs to be fabricated. Panels are mostly mocked up but still need to be glued in place as well as finishing details and an interior, etc. The rig is currently setup with a fully built LS drivetrain, 6.0 LS motor built by Advanced engines in Helena, MT, remanufactured performance 4l60 by bridge city transmission, marks 4wd adapter, toyota tcase. I am offering the rig in 2 different priced configurations:

1. Roller only: includes the camper conversion (current state), all the interior and oem 80 parts I have for this, no motor, no trans, no adapter, no tcase $10k

2. Camper conversion with 6.0 drivetrain (as it sits): includes built 6.0LS, trans, marks adapters, tcase $20k

It's important to note that neither the camper or the LS conversion is complete, the heavy lifting so to speak of both sides of the project are done but the details remain. I was hoping to build this truck into a high performing, light and capable machine but I haven't found the time to finish it up as I run a small business, have a toddler, etc. My thoughts are for about $2-5k more (given you purchase with drivetrain) you'll be on the road camping and hauling a$$. Big update on this build, since posting for sale I've had a few interests but still have it available. Since originally posting I've done a ton of work to this camper build. Motor is complete and running, 100% rebuilt HF2A t-case with 2WD conversion spool and Aisin hubs, full body off restoration of frame, axles and suspension components, replaced rear axle with oem locked F.F. Both axles have had seals, bearings, brakes replaced with new. Front axles have newer larger front rotors and caliper conversion completed, knuckles rebuilt, new Japanese birfs on both sides. Everything painted with VHT chassis paint. Custom 3 row radiator, derale trans cooler, etc. Camper is still in fabrication stage but basically need to build a door and assemble the roof. Looking for a potential buyer to finish for or take as is. One possibility is to scrap the cab and mount another 80, 60 or other series cab on this chassis, I'd be into talking about possibilities with a serious potential buyer.

Very cool !

just browser. But have a question about those wheels.

What did you do to clear 35s, and any rubbing?

I’ve been considering those 2nd gen 4Runner wheels (15x7 8mm offset). I already have 35x12.5r15 with spacers (don’t know much else and exact specs, as it came with them). Visually wheels appear to have neg offset. But I’m worried they won’t fit.

The wheels I had on there in the first pictures are factory Landcruiser wheels for 91,92 (also used on 4Runners) , the tires where 33x10.5r15, no rubbing, not sure about 35s though. The 15” wheels will only work on 91,92 cruisers as the later ones had larger disc brakes on front and a disc rear. I’ve since sold the wheels and now just running 1st gen tundra wheels for the time being.

The PO already put spacers to clear 15 wheels. Long term, I will go OEM wheels with 35s, but saving up, and don’t want to throw away good rubber.
