Facts:
Located in Long Beach, CA
1988 FJ62
246,000 miles
Body is very straight, no rust that I can find
Engine Rebuilt once at 221,627 miles
Trans Rebuilt at 239,269 miles
Have a folder full of receipts about an inch thick (mostly from the previous owner).
Power Antenna
AC Blows Cold/Heater Works Fine
New distributor, alternator and master cylinder (all OEM) about 2 years ago.
4x4 works fine, tested recently but have never taken it off road.
We have owned this truck for almost 3 years. I am the 3rd owner.
Problems:
Engine runs rough occasionally, check engine light comes on but never long enough for my mechanic to figure out what the code is (he's also a Toyota mechanic in Orange County). Never had the time to deal with it and to be honest, my wife and I been driving it this way for over a year.
Very honestly, this truck has never left us stranded or anything of the sort. It runs perfectly on the freeway or down the street. Seems to have the idling problem in traffic or when it gets really hot. Again, does not stumble or hesitate whatsoever when its moving down the road. Runs absolutely perfect when the engine is "cold". Also drove it to San Diego twice in the last 4 weeks.
You can come test drive it and I could probably even set up a video. I have driven it to work all week and planning on it next week too.
1 power window switch went bad (behind driver, rear passenger). Can only be opened by the driver.
Front and rear dome lights works occasionally.
I believe we are selling this truck for a pretty reasonable price. I'm hoping it goes to a real fan of FJ60 and FJ62's, which is why it hasn't been posted for sale anywhere else but here. I don't screw around!
Life got too busy and I have my first kid on the way which forces us to sell our 2nd vehicle. Right now, I just can't imagine putting more money into this truck to make it "perfect" like how we want.
