It's REALLY hard to list this Land Cruiser for sale. It's become an old friend and is going to be hard to part with. For nearly 20 years I've driven/owned nearly every model of Land Cruiser and with a growing family had to settle on the best of both worlds........a capable vintage Land Cruiser.....that's also safe to carry my family of five in. The FJ62 is a nice blend of classic vintage simplicity and newer technology in that it has the indestructible straight six 3FE engine that's fuel injected, automatic transmission, and power windows and locks. This Cruiser only has 102k miles and is likely one of the lowest mileage 62's in the country. I am a purist Toyota guy and won't let anything that's not original Toyota (OEM parts) touch it.........and I don't like silly redneck modifications. (ps....not opposed to rednecks.....cuz I are one) The ONLY modifications allowable to any Land Cruiser in my humble opinion (or at least for my tastes) are a gentleman's lift (Old Man Emu) and larger tires and upgraded seats. So this one has all of the above. An Old Man Emu 2.5 inch lift is the single most sensible and wise upgrade you can make to a vintage cruiser. Not only does it put it at a height that just looks right for a Cruiser, but it removes the notorious body lean/roll and it gives it a seriously sweet/smooth ride. This one has greasable shackles making for an especially nice ride. The tires are BFG Mud Terrains and are AMAZING tires. They're a tad noisier than BFG All Terrains, but not too much. They're 33 inch tires and they fit the original rims perfectly......and like I said, they just look right on this vehicle. They have about 8-10k miles left on them before needing replacement. Lastly, regarding upgrades, are the seats. I have NEVER had a 60 or 62 over the years that wasn't especially uncomfortable.....and I think it's the lack of lumbar support. Like wearing a shoe without an arch, it just made for a bad taste driving such a nice vehicle. So these have been upgraded to some VERY comfortable, well supported.....and indestructible seats. They are a direct bolt in replacement and make for some nice comfortable daily driving around town or on long trips.

Mechanically this cruiser is in top form. I've taken it on long trips with no problems at all.....ever. It has operated flawlessly and I would say it's as reliable as a Camry. I'm meticulous about maintenance and I know these vehicles stem to stern. Cosmetically, the paint is original and there is no rust at all. The carpet, headliner, dash, etc are all in exceptional condition. The radio/speakers/antennae all work like they did in 1988. It shifts VERY smoothly and can very easy maintain 70 plus on the interstate. AC blows super cold and heater is toasty (has factory rear seat heater as well). Also has a receiver hitch.

I'm not negotiable on the price at all. Not a haggler or a game player.......just an honest guy selling a great and rare old Cruiser. Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, I would consider trading for a nice FJ40 that's 75 or newer.

Thanks for looking. Feel free to call if you have questions or trade ideas. I have lots of pictures so email if you'd like to see more.

X2 need a price so we know where to not start negotiating. :)

sorry.....price is $19400.

Thanks
Ben

Better head to Ebay....for that kind of money.

Ok Good to see that i am not the only one with these thoughts of the asking price. If you take that 1 off the asking price then i would be very interested in HER/ So interested that i would fly out and pay you cash and drive HER home!! GLWS

I listed the price at $19400 because that's what I think it's worth. That's what it'll take to part with it. I've owned and sold cruisers for years and I ask a premium for them......because the ones I have owned and sold are that nice. The last one I had I sold to a Toyota dealer in Massachusetts. He and his wife flew to Texas and drove it back. It ended up on his showroom floor. The FJ40 before that went to a banker in Waco who owned it for 4 years and sold it for 10K MORE than the premium he paid me for it. The FJ40 before that went to a guy from Nova Scotia. He flew down and drove it back without incident. All that over the span of about 12 years......I don't own many but what I own/drive/sell is just plain nice.

I've been driving Cruisers long enough to know that what goes with being a Cruiserhead is usually a pair of big gonads that makes you learn to fix your own rig, to search for the sugarstick deal and usually then to mock the guy who actually wants one bad enough to pay a premium. Well, I've done some of that that.....minus the mocking. I've learned to fix my own vehicle (mostly), and I've bought them for a song.....and I've bought them for a premium. I find that they are worth more if the mods are light and it's mostly original with low miles, original paint and no rust. One thing you can't do to a Cruiser is take the miles OFF of it.

So, there you go. Beat me up, mock my price, it's all good. Mileage, rust, paint.....those things matter to me. And they'll matter enough to someone else to pay a premium for a nice mostly-original low-mileage 62.

Cruiser

Looks like nice cruiser, not to beat a dead horse but that's pretty pricy although I hope you get it!

I sold my pristine 1988 62 with 124k miles to Greg Miller of the Larry Miller group for his Landcruiser museum in December and got about $7000 less. Hell should have held out for more i guess!

Good luck!

I for one hope you get that price for it. The mud market here can be pretty brutal on the value of our trucks. I wanna see the value of totally original wagons in excellent shape go up in value. GLWS

Soo 10k cash?!? Jk. Glws.

Sold a 62 before? They simply don't command the price that 40's do. I've never seen one sell for the price you're set on. IMO, the 33's without a gear change and seat swap detract from the value, but it's definitely a nice one. GLWS.

Selling a 62

Thanks all for your comments. I do appreciate them and I realize I'm asking a premium for it. I have sold a 62 before.....for $21.5......seven years ago. And I, and the buyer, both thought it was worth it. And right now there are some folks considering this one....at this price. Some, myself included, consider an unmolested, low mileage, cancer free cruiser rare and won't quibble over a few thousand dollars for something that will only appreciate if maintained. I realize not everyone feels that way. And this cruiser isn't for everyone.

Thanks,
Ben

That's a nice 62.
Do you mind me asking what kind of replacement seats you put in it?
I've thought of doing this myself.
