Just purchased a 1988 FJ62 and had the pleasure of driving it 7 hours home a week ago. Enjoyed turning heads in the right lane during my maden voyage. My combination switch (headlight, turn signals, wipers) started acting up once I made it home (lucky me). The turn signals began only working at times. Now I believe that it has completely died since my windshield wipers turn on by themselves randomly. Anyone know of any leads or where I can purchase one that has been tested and in good working order?

good used, post a wanted thread in the classifieds:

maybe vintage teq parts has NOS or refurbished units

They can be removed and cleaned, which can help with the light functions especially.

I had one where I replaced the stalk with one from a 2nd gen Toyota truck. It was a slightly different shape but the wiring colors were the same and it worked well.

Bad grounds can also cause problems in these circuits, so it might be worth looking into that before dropping $$ on a new switch assembly, only to find it doesn't fix your problem.

Good suggestion. I have learned that gound issues create worlds of havoc on cruisers. Thanks for the reminder.

I picked up a used one in good working condition at cruiserparts.net a few years ago. Although challenging , you might also consider a new combo switch from a non-usa model such as the Hilux that you could capitalize. A lot of parts on the 70-series are common with the 60-series. I don't know if the combo switch is, though.
