Hey all,

Been searching for some answer on getting my glow system working again.

Car runs great but as the cold mornings start creeping in it’s getting longer and rougher on start up.

After replacing the old corroded fuel relay/preheating timer set up with new boards from reviveyourig.com

I’ve come into the error code;

‘Temp sensor open’ faulty or loose temp sensor.

When I turn the ignition to glow the light comes on and ticks off immediately. Boycotting any glowing.

There’s an aftermarket temp sensor installed, I’ve been advised by an auto electrician to to put in a new coolant sensor and to go from there.

Not sure where im supposed to install the new two pin plug. Looks like the wiring has been spliced to install the aftermarket sensor.

Any wisdom is greatly appreciated.
Can supply more pics if needed.

Are you determined to hang onto Superglow?

Because at this point, most people just put in a Push Button to activate the primary glow relay manually and get used to counting to some specific number of seconds depending on ambient temperature.

This is where the sensor for the superglow controller is meant to be.. yours has been replaced with something else..

This is the sender for the factory temp gauge..

This is the plug for the Superglow Sender..

At this point, I’m gonna have a crack and see if I can get it all working otherwise that’ll be the next route!

Thanks again for your help

.

hi ,

how come removing the aftermarket mystery sensor , then installing a new OEM Toyota sensor that is the correct part needed here , that then will plug into

the original OEM Toyota connector plug your holding in your hand above is not the plan here / has not already been done yet ?

you are a bit more then
Lucky Lucky here about what you can and do hold in your hand above ......

this is usually Not the case in every case i have ever seen where a mystery sensor has been installed in place of a OEM Toyota sensor in a Land Cruiser engine & also there is a related or possibly related Engine running property and normal as is should normally

The replacement pre heating timer / duel relay i found run the same as the OEM boards, so heres hoping this is the fix in the glow system for me.

the engine runs perfectly at the moment and on warm days starts fine.

I do however have her booked in for a service after this so who knows what mysteries await haha

hi mr clayton

kool i am glad you found a substitute fix here ...

i find myself becoming more and more curious also more then very interested in learning , or i should say trying hard to self-teach-myself all about the non-usa far-away
DIESEL Land Cruiser history story and all the TECH. on variations of 40 , 56 60 & 80 series Land Cruiser we never saw here ..

it's now becoming clearer to me , much like 2nd or 3rd time the family road-trip on the I-95 straight down to Disney Land in Florida kinda wazz teenager style boring after the 3rd rodeo there every 3-4 years and you remember everything that was so dam kool last time , like the Wild West Shooting gallery that a CLOWN in a
NOS Ben Cartwright legit as s#it cowboy suite head to toe literally handed you a real working deal , metal and wood heavy.... like a exhaust manifold heavy Thompson Machine Gun that had a special conversion kit to attach thick black rubber shop 1/2" air hose screwed into the side right above the round cassette ammo can ...

squeezing that trigger and shaking from excitement as Dad was shouting " only short bursts like i told you matt " .... never did get boring in any way shape or form to be clear :D

- note : qty x
1000pcs / one thousand re-usable larger then Red Ryder size-spec BB's simply is never enough to make a Klean-kut circle-pattern around that dam red⭐ star paper target so it falls like a autumn leaf to the floor !

- so ,

- how i relate the above to the Land Cruiser
DIESEL engine topic like you posted here in 60 tech , is there was no part of any of the formal or un-formal T-TEN experience that had the word DIESEL at all ......?

- now ....... a bit longer in time later , as my brother and i were about to enter the middle school age 7th-8th grades , another I-95 lap & back in summer hot July season to Walt Disney World happend , i had a badly PO treated TPS-L2 first gen. Sony walk man , so hiking on burning asphalt all day to the same things / same places would not be so routine maybe 😆

- this time however would be a very new and different experience when the Monorail took a new side switch track-thing it hovers on to a place called
" EPCOT CENTER "

- so your quote above " who knows what mysteries await " is why after i read your thread title skimming around 60 tech for a different topic , there was no temptation of not clicking for a lookie lookie sese for me ....

DIESEL = EPCOT CENTER for me now and will for a good long while too ...:D

i am not so familiar yet mr clayton to completely understand why the words : SUPER
& GLOW , are all one word ?

however , i am more then a bit more likely sure , that the parts topic in my below pics is the updated last revised oem made in japan spec. part
# , in relationship to the one your holding in your hand above ....

-
do not use the one on the clear blister pack in the photo above .....fyi

- thanks for todays kool DIESEL lesson's-tech :):wrench::wrench::wrench:

oh .... this is a no-cost topic mr. clayton , please PM me your shipping addy. info. i will put this in todays mail for you ,

matt
