Crushers......"not going to fix it ... but then i am a cup half empty type guy today."

Perhaps both you and Rosco are correct but again I have to point out that the part is "new and shiny" and will look good in the engine bay. Regardless of it's effect on the A/C, I don't want any engine cooling issues to pop up in future either. After owning a 2L-TE I am perhaps more sensitive to cooling issues than the average guy. :D

oh, i agree, it sure is pretty and will brighten up the engine bay
but

fixing AC?
well, maybe it just might ... cup half full day.

You need to post a weekly calender on the forum that shows your "glass half full" days and your "glass half empty" days so I know when it is prudent to ask you questions. :)

Can anyone recommend a method for removing old adhesive striping without damaging the paint? The graphics are faded and cracking but will require extensive re-painting if I screw it up. Thanks :)

i took my 81 to a highend paint shop to have the grafics removed, the glue had dried to the point that i lost some paint on the doors. $3000 later the truck looked like new again.

budget accordingly or leave alone would be my advice.

You know me I can't leave stuff alone ( especially something as ugly at mid '80's Toyota graphics ). The good news is that they are only on the bottom 1/3 of the body.....the bad news is that they run from end to end.

I did a small test run and was able to remove some of the graphics however the underlying glue is not coming off. I believe Toyota mixed nuclear waste with their adhesive and the " half life " must be 100+ years. :D

i have had luck with a hair dryer, as mentioned, and when the glue has softened even a whee bit then "goof off" brand, wipe on and quickly wipe back off with a clean rag. you will go through a lot of rags so check with wife for thread bare sheets to cut up.

" check with wife " ..... I don't need to check with my wife..... I RUN my house.

I run the vacuum cleaner, washing machine, dish washer, lawn mower........:)
I only bought the HJ75 so I could take the trash off.

reminds me of the saying:
"I am head of the house, i have my wife's permission to say so"
or, as one preacher told me:
"Man is the head of the house. The wife is the neck that turns the head"

take your pick old boy.

Thanks for the tips. If the weather will cooperate I will jump on the " graphics " project later this week. The Toyota guy who came up with the " graphics " idea should offered a long vacation. :)

i am sure he IS on vacation ... maybe even permanently ...

I have seen new 70 Series photos ( mostly from the Middle East ) and they are plastered with graphics so I believe the " guy" is alive and well. :)

that would be his son ... i am sure the guy that designed the decal for your truck "retired" himself after seeing them in real life.

Retired or in the case of Napoleon .... Exiled to some distant island. :D

My house is run by SWMBO!!
