May look at Middle East sourced 1984 LX 40 which has been stuck on a dealer lot since August. No smog equipment (my state no longer smog tests), and they have clear US title so I'm not walking to a title/dmv nightmare. They purchased from Mideast Classics (I've seen the purchase price as well).

Has AC, but missing fresh air circulate knob, air conditioner fan knob, and heater pull knob.
What kind of project would it be to properly reinstall those knobs AND have them work the air conditioner, the fan, and heater?
Naive newbie me hopes it "just find the knob online, insert and twist, then pull" but realist me is leaning toward "pull the dash...and overseas FJ need a special.... big headache and $$."

Thank you.

On a Mid-East market model, I would not be surprised to find it has no heater or AC installed. You're sure there's more than an AC compressor installed?

Never thought of that! I saw this in the pic and presumed it had AC, but maybe that's why the AC knob is missing/not plugged, and the heat knob is missing. Man, that would make this a no-go for my climate.

Very few of the GCC 40/45 series came with factory heaters. A/C was a bit more common. You show the under dash A/C controller but need the in-car evaporator unit, a compressor and a drier in the engine compartment as well as a condenser in front of the radiator, with of course all the correct hoses and wiring loom. You can post wanted ads for missing parts here on Mud, but be patient waiting for a response to your advert. There are aftermarket heaters and air conditioners if you prefer.

As a word of caution, if one dealer imported the vehicle, and later a different dealer acquired it, and it's been sitting for sale for some time, there MAY be some issues with the vehicle and/or the asking price. Go physically look at it, drive it, slide under it with a flashlight, etc.. Good luck.

Ac in Idaho? It never stays very hot here, you’re fine. None of my trucks have ac ;) you will want heat here - these trucks need to be sealed up well for the heat to work. That said that truck doesn’t have any heater.

The ac controls you photographed have the knobs - the center dash is for choke, wipers and fogs.
