Guys (and gals),

Please be aware that this vehicle is requires a roadworthy certificate.

Also, if you are not in Australia, then YOU will need to enquire on the costs involved in getting it to your location, from Brisbane - Australia.

As this is an aussie vehicle it is RHD.

Yes, I know all that. Just curious to know if you had heard of any sources for getting a US Cert. Did you have a chance to get pix?

can't be true... there's a number of RHD 45's around SLC Utah... there's hope.

d.) Right hand drive. There was a time when the DOT didn't care, but just recently they ruled that from now on there must be a petition for import eligibility on file for a RHD model. Currently there is only one RHD petition on file and that is for the Nissan GTS/GTR. Rick, I know you say those importers all told you that they would have to convert a RHD Cruiser to LHD. The truth is they told you that because they did not want to go through the hassle of petitioning a RHD model and importing your truck. Since there is at least one petition on file for a RHD vehicle we all know now that the argument CAN be successfully made that a RHD model is as safe as a LHD of the same model. The trick is finding an importer who is willing to petition a RHD Cruiser.

Just passing along that which is elsewhere on the boards. Linked in my original post :)

Would love to know if this is untrue as it opens doors for various other cruiser import options - but everything I've read goes like above and that RHD's in the states are from the good old days and already here prior to the changes mentioned above.

Hi guys,

Pics are available here http://www.phat42.com/gallery/v/the40/ You should also be aware that this vehicle is being sold due to the rust in places (specific pics of rust are here: http://www.phat42.com/gallery/v/the40/cancer/ )

Please note that this is not its current state or the state it will be sold in. I am im the process of moving accessories to another vehicle after which I will post more recent pics of the 40.

I've imported about 10 crusiers from AU this year and they need to be 25 years or older to be exempt from DOT and EPA restrictions. 1984 will have to wait a few years.......

They can be imported earlier but you need to hire a special company to do it and they have to convert the steering over and upgrade brakes and safety stuff etc. This is well over $10K just for that.

25 years or older that toyota could be on fire and shooting rockets out of it and the DOT wouldn't give it a second look.

Hope this helps!!

My experience is exactly what jsaltick said. If it's not 25 years old, it is cost prohibitive.
