Wow, great input, exactly what I needed to hear! Thanks so much! On that note, going to call this guy since my other deal is not working out logistically.

Maybe you can send him a private message full of details superfluous to the sale, not make him an offer, and then pout about how he told you to get lost in a future ad asking for advice on a vehicle that was overpriced.

No pouting at all, just tired seeing you s***ting on this and other sale threads. I know the problem here. Hold on, let me do something for you:

Screen_Shot_2016_07_05_at_12_29_21_PM.png

Are you upset because no wants to your Fordyota? Awwwww. Well the good news is that the Waaaaaaaambulance has support from Kleenex© and a box of your favorite cookies so you will be in good hands.

You never told me to get lost, you just rudely replied "read the thread," to one of my questions and I decided not to further pursue because your F(J)rankenstein has a lot of build proprietary to your wonderful self. I knew if there ever would be an issue with anything on the rig, it would be such a pleasant experience reaching out to you for help.

Yes, I did email with questions and a bit of narrative, this is how a sale works, people ask questions before wanting to invest time to come see it and get to know the seller. Oh, and no pouting here at all kid, it takes more than a few typed words from some socially inept (Campbell+ a****** attitude=are you an IT engineer?) forum member to prevent me from what I want. It seems like the only question you will accept to your build is "who do I make the check to?"

I'm sure in person, you are a nice guy, and I reluctantly admit, you're quite humorous, but not funny enough to net out you off-putting attitude. And that is why you are still stuck with the truck. OK, now I'm off to check out the Barrett Jackson specimen.

Kid? That's the best you have got? I'll take being a "kid" over being a 43 year-old who can't turn a wrench, figure out how gear ratios work, use Google to find out the wheel lug pattern of an FJ60; yet, still has enough self-confidence to argue with me about gear ratios. The world will always need more renters.

It was evident in your first message you weren't going to buy it. Your arrogance was apparent. In person, you would have been told to leave. Possibly made to leave. It's not like you're super-sleuth figuring out my general career path - as it's posted in my thread I told you to read.

Now to the original response
: that FJ60 is overpriced by a long shot. Especially if you lack the mechanical ability to maintain a 2F or deal with drip rail rust - which almost always means the top is rusted out as with whatever roof pillar is behind them. That's pretty evident given that
  • it has a roof rack (which are the main reason these rust)
  • rust has bubbled through the new paint.

Since you are so incredibly mechanically adept, you shouldn't have a problem with either of those. If that falls through I know of an FJ62 with a heavy duty 6.0L that might be up your alley.... The smog and registration might be a problem - but you're a smart guy so you'll figure it out.

An example of your breadth of automotive knowledge:
Stoopid FJ62 Newb with dumb power Q.

How you dealt with Valley Hybrids:
Georg, if you are reading this, forgive this "2nd Opionion" thread. I am new to the FJ60/62 world and picked up a rig a few months ago and Georg worked on it. I asked him if my engine was OK because on the highway, these feel so underpowered. He told me these were not designed for speed.

But after more hours driving, I am very disappointed in how this handles on the highway. I have driven 4 bangers that felt like they had more ponies than this V-6. No complaints in the city and on the dirt, but when I am 60+ and trying to make a pass, I literally have to put the pedal to the floor to creep up in RPMs. Going up hills is even worse. Are these rigs just crap on the highway? I replaced my plugs with OEM sparks. OEM cap and rotors. And Georg approved NAPA wires. Got some fuel injection cleaner, then later some Tekron and nothing but 91 octane under my watch. Still feels like a drag. Is this how it is with these? Other than an engine swap, is there anything else I can do to get confidence to make a pass on the highway?

How you dealt with me.
The main difference being that Georg runs a business (a very awesome business that does phenomenal work I might add) and has to tolerate some level of your BS. I don't.

Holy Mother of God, pray for our sinners..now and...s***, just remembered Im not religious. But Lordy Lord, your rig is my dream! A V8 (interesting choice, I thought Chevy's were the standard) conversion too. Just curious, for the 35's, did you regear to 4.88? Maybe you mentioned it but it got lost in the post. Oh, and I am down the road from you in SF. I am interested and have a potential buyer for my GX. If that is a go, I will high tail it to your rig. Thanks John

ME: I have 3.73s. 4.88s are WAAAAAAAAAAAY too deep of a gear with 35s. This can comfortably cruise down the highway at 75 mph at 2100 RPM in 5th all day long.

I will include a 4.10 3rd member with the rig however

revkev said:
Interesting. Wont engage in a debate and will concede. If i was to put some 32s do u think a regear is in order. Also do u recall the whell bolt pattern? Im local and a former 62 owner with a desire to return to his roots. What is the best price for your rig? If the price is right i may have to jump on it even before selling mu gx470. Thx

ME: Read the ad. I built the truck.

Oh wow, you're not done? Lucky me. OK, I will play....one more time.

You took offense to "kid?!" Anger management much? It wasn't an attack, but if you took it as one, so be it, I will accept all repercussions. OK, let me make it better, from hereon out, I'll call you "Dude." OK?

Now for the time suck.

(you can't) figure out how gear ratios work

How they work? Yes. Do I know which config works best? No. Thus the use of the little "?'s" within my PM to you. Tons of differing opinions out there, like this:35" : Regearing Needed ?.

(you can't) use Google to find out the wheel lug pattern of an FJ60

Oh I know how dude, here was my search query:

"What wheel hub does an idiot savant use when he hot rods a FJ60 using parts from Chevys, Fords, Tundras, and FZJ80s with a custom front axel?" Google returned 1 search result and it was a Big, Fat, Middle Finger...thus my lug pattern Q to you.

I dislike the cheap steelies you put on and I have a set of 6 x 5.5 patterned wheels in storage yearning to be mounted. So instead of bombarding you with "superfluous" 411, I opted w/ "do you recall the wheel bolt pattern?" Which you ignored and got upset with. Geez, I thought you would appreciate the brevity.

You complained I didn't make an offer....well, I was analyzing to formulate one but you were above answering all my questions because you probably spent hours writing the post and wanted that to cover all . Well here was why I was asking the Qs:

1. If you swapped hubs with a different bolt pattern, then that's another $900 for new kicks + $1000 for 33's.
2. Which led to my gear Q. I was seeking your opinion, NOT arguing about gearing. I like to get my hands dirty but a regear is beyond my scope. Thus more out of pocket $$
3. Then I need to lower the rig or my HOA will crucify me if I scrape up the garage ceiling, lights, and pipes when I park. So I need to replace/mod your long-travel and suspension to a 3" lift. More $$$$.
<Insert judgmental snipe about my lack of wrenching here>

In person, you would have been told to leave. Possibly made to leave.

Internet bravado, Love it!! You're a tough guy now, huh? I'm retiring "dude" and you will now be referred to as "tough guy." Cool?

OK, the whole quoting route is cumbersome. Going to mix up formats with Copy n Paste.

TOUGH GUY: "yet, still has enough self-confidence to argue with me about gear ratios."

ME: Arguing means you hold one stance and I hold another on a topic and then we sh*t on each other. Did that happen? NO. Read my email again, but this time, take your meds first. I conceded and never once said you were wrong and I'm right.

Next up we have this gem:

TOUGH GUY: "The world will always need more renters."

Are you speaking in metaphor or is this a swing at my socioeconomic status? If the latter, then thats arrogance. You own a dirt patch in a 'burb? Yippee! I won't even refute your wannabe 1% comment because who cares what you think. Ha, and you call me arrogant. Thats like an anus hole calling the kettle black (is that how that idiom goes?)

Now to the original response: that FJ60 is overpriced by a long shot. Especially if you lack the mechanical ability to maintain a 2F or deal with drip rail rust - which almost always means the top is rusted out as with whatever roof pillar is behind them. That's pretty evident given that

  • rust has bubbled through the new paint.
Now if you just said that in the first place, I wouldn't have reciprocated your attitude and we wouldn't be bickering like little b*tchnuts. You're not the only one who doesn't tolerate BS.

TOUGH GUY: "Your arrogance was apparent."

Hmmm, odd, I read my correspondence to you as my "ignorance" was apparent because I was trying to tap into your knowledge and was asking questions. Let's look at the "arrogant" PM again:

ME: "Holy Mother of God, pray for our sinners..now and...s***, just remembered Im not religious. But Lordy Lord, your rig is my dream! A V8 (interesting choice, I thought Chevy's were the standard) conversion too. Just curious, for the 35's, did you regear to 4.88?"

Does that exude any arrogance? No. It's actually a compliment w/ a question, but in your demented world, you got steamed and read it as....Arrogance?!! Then you quote me on something from 2 years ago and talk about V. Hybrids...WTF? I have no idea what your point was there...nor do I care.

If that falls through I know of an FJ62 with a heavy duty 6.0L that might be up your alley.

Sorry Tough Guy, I don't like CHERRIES.

It was evident in your first message you weren't going to buy it.

I'm not saying I would've bought it, but I very much wanted to see and learn more about it. Did you miss my compliment to your rig (see above) that was fueled by the excitement to see a CA smog compliant FJ60 V8 Conversion (not easy) DOWN THE STREET from me that's not asking over $30k? I was stoked, so much so that I acknowledged a deity I don't believe in. I was drooling because I can identify a good deal when I see one and know conversions can cost upwards of $20-30k. But for some reason you got upset. Waaaaaaaaah! I was/am itching for a V8 conversion. Did you not see this: Trade: - 2004 low mile GX470 for V8 swapped FJ

I asked you reasonable Qs and had several more but your off putting nature was enough for me to X you off.

I really like Grayskull and spoke to the seller who is a cool guy. Would take a stab at it if it was priced around $15k to offset potential smog issues + $flight + $hotel + $gas to drive it back down but I also don't have that time to spare. So yours was the top candidate.

So the search continues and I am now including solid 2Fs back into the mix.

Carry on with this if you like but I just lost 20 minutes of my life I will never get back and don't plan on losing anymore. So I'm done... Son!

Pardon my late response. Trump and I are tweeting back and forth.

I'm not angry about the "kid" comment. It's intellectually lazy, and meant to be demeaning. Own it. It's amusing that the only thing you have to go on is age - since you've ruled out experience, knowledge or ability when it comes to the FJ60 or adding tech to this message board. Hell, even on general entertainment factor I win.

The Dude reference is equally stale in your painters pallet of patronizing pronouns, but I can work with it.

How they work? Yes. Do I know which config works best? No. Thus the use of the little "?'s" within my PM to you. Tons of differing opinions out there, like this:35" : Regearing Needed ?.

No.

Let me google that for you

You're not making your case. I'm not sure how I can be an IT Engineer who can build cars and type in complete sentences yet can still qualify as a savant. Let alone an "idiot savant". You don't have to be an "idiot savant" to know that 3 of 4 of those vehicles use 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern. You could type into Google or you could have read the build thread (which is what I told you to do). In fact, your life would probably improve dramatically if you did what I told you to do.

Do want to start a weekly life coaching thread? I promise I'll be nicer if it's a recurring thing.

I dislike the cheap steelies you put on and I have a set of 6 x 5.5 patterned wheels in storage yearning to be mounted. This was addressed multiple times in the build thread, the for sale ad and hell you can look at the pictures and count the damned lug nuts. That is apparently too much to ask. Also, from my side, someone who calls about your vehicle for sale and immediately wants to start changing things is not going to buy it. I've bought and sold enough cars to know this.

You complained I didn't make an offer....well, I was analyzing to formulate one but you were above answering all my questions because you probably spent hours writing the post and wanted that to cover all . Well here was why I was asking the Qs:

I knew you were a tire-kicker. I put a price, you offer lower and I either accept or reject said offer. Then the process either repeats or ends. It's not that different from a Python loop expression. Demanding my "best price" without ever seeing the vehicle is a waste of both our time. A truly interested party would not do that, we both know this.

One guy offered $7 and a case of Pabst, but at least he had the balls to put in an offer and entertain me at the same time. You, for reference, did neither.

I didn't care then, I still don't care. On a side note I tried your level of verbosity at Target earlier this week and the cashier was thoroughly creeped out. I guess she didn't want to know why I switched to 2 ply.

Internet bravado, Love it!! You're a tough guy now, huh? I'm retiring "dude" and you will now be referred to as "tough guy." Cool?

I've politely walked people off my property before. I've done it impolitely before as well. It's a pretty safe bet it's not necessary with you. The point is moot, however, because you were never going to come down and look at this thing anyway. As far as internet toughness is concerned - I type over 60 words per minute which means I'm like MMA internet tough, Bro. 100+ is internet Navy SEAL.

TOUGH GUY: "The world will always need more renters."

I live in my parents basement so I can save up to buy a townhouse.

Now if you just said that in the first place, I wouldn't have reciprocated your attitude and we wouldn't be bickering like little b*tchnuts. You're not the only one who doesn't tolerate BS.

Or if you didn't waste other peoples' time, talk down to them, or make unreasonable requests of them, those people may be more receptive. Also your history of answer shopping is off-putting. But whatever this is all for sport anyway.

Your post was dated December 28th, 2015. Not to be pedantic, but that is 10.5 months ago - not 2 years. It also is the impetus for the GX470 purchase, shortly after selling the ridiculously underpowered FJ62, and now the V8 swapped FJ60 search - which are all readily available to anyone who has the wherewithal to click on your user name. This is not NSA-level things I'm doing here. I already looked through your previous posts to determine that you were an answer-shopping pain in the ass prior to initially responding to you.

Sorry Tough Guy, I don't like CHERRIES.

I would prefer you and Mr. Fidinian had a battle of the IH8Mud know-it-alls, Hunger-Games style.

I've got a ConEx container, some baseball bats and a webcam lined up. Maybe I'll send you two each others' addresses.

I'm not saying I would've bought it, but I very much wanted to see and learn more about it.

Case in point Mr. Tire-kicker. There's a build thread on it (also in the ad). You don't have to pretend to buy something to ask a tech question. I'll answer any tech question you have in that thread.

Carry on with this if you like but I just lost 20 minutes of my life I will never get back and don't plan on losing anymore. So I'm done... Son!

Think of it this way, that is 20 minutes less time you've had to dwell over your mid-life crisis.
