I looked at pics on it and to be honest.....I would be afraid to even use it as a good parts rig! I am sure there are a few things salvageable but I feel it has already gone to high to even entertain that.

Yes it was a 600 to 800 dollar rig if it runs and drives ok. The tub is toast and with the plow mounted on it the frame might just match. The hood and the bezel and maybe the windshield frame are the only tub parts that don't look completely gone. The sides on the hard top may be ok as well.

6 to 800 $ ?

Rear axle alone sells for a 1000$,parts for the late models are getting hard to find so if anyone is relatively close to this they still might make a deal......after the high bidder on Ebay flakes out ;-)

i love how it says "call you body guy" like you need an expert to tell you that the body is a throw away. more like "call aqualu and give them that visa number" cause you need a whole new body.

Rear axles don't go anywhere near 1000 here. If you think it's valuable then maybe you should buy it? It's value as a cruiser that can be saved is pretty unlikely. It might only be good for whatever parts have not been completely eaten up. From the pics that doesn't look good. I might be only speaking for myself but that's what I would give. Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. People used to buy pet rocks, I'm just not one of them.

1982 has the rear axle with Ebrake, try to find one!
1981 and older I have a dozen here and having a hard time finding anybody that wants one for more then 150$

All ebrake 40 axles are sold before I advertise em.

I understand. So why haven't you purchased this one? It sounds like you already have it sold?

I do not need to buy this because I already have an 82 FJ40 parts rig that I payed a lot more for then the 6-800$ tops that you value these.mine is as rusty as this one but did came with a pristine interior.

If this one was any closer, let's say within 500 miles I would probably hook up my trailer if I could get it for a reasonable price wich would be between your unrealistic price and the to high Ebay bid.

Ok so I way undervalued this because of the year. Most of the parts are only good for 79 to 84 and I usually avoid them because of this. The unique everything makes them unrealistic for me and my limited budget. I have a 74 77 and a 7? so the last body style doesn't work for me. I admit that as a parts rig it may have more value than 6 to 800. It was sitting at about 4,000 when I made that comment. I just thought that for "ME" it wasn't worth anything close to that. If I need a ebrake axle for a customers rig, I build one.

it was close to me, I can see spending 2K maybe a tad more as there are some good bits on it still

its sad this became a dealer plow truck but I can see why, the market for Land Cruiser in the US in the early 1980's was POOR, gas prices high(so bad that GM ruined the dsl market for decades with the 350dsl boat anchor), interest rates on homes were 18%(no idea what car loans were), very few were were buying rigs that got 12mpg, Toyota had its mini truck out and it was doing very well in the market. There were dealers that had 80-83's for 1-2 years after they had hit the lot........they just sat. At one point a owner of the dealerships says screw it..make it a lot plow truck......and this is always the result.

now a plow truck from the southern CA area would be a different story.....but I have a feeling few exist ;)

Landpimp, I sadly acknowledge your historical story. I recall the price of fuel during "the energy crisis" comparable to the amount we pay currently. I can imagine how rec trucks, of low fuel economy, would've been a low interest vehicle during that time. I've seen never titled trucks here in the northeast, which have low miles, that were used by dealerships for plowing snow.
Unfortunately, these trucks were eaten alive by the salt we use to treat our roads here.
To have had the insight to buy these trucks new, back in the day...

It didn't. It's back up.

EDIT: got this one confused with the other ebay rig that had been a popular punching bag.

If you can get $1K for an E-brake rear axle I have one with a matching front axle complete with Aisin hubs, both 95K original miles (my truck), say $2500 for the pair. I'll strip them, clean, box, and ship on your dime. Cover gas and I'll drive them down! :D

There are several folks here in North Texas lookin for some FJ40 rear axles with Ebrake so advertise them here and you will sell the rear, front will be worth a lot less.Nothing special there.I just bought a 1983 BJ42 rear axle Full Floater with Ebrake and oem LSD in it so I do not need yours.

Just list it here for 1000$ and if it is in good condition see how quickly it will sell!

Not worth it for me to split them up for $1K but thanks.

?

At first you act surprised that a rear could sell for a 1000$ and later you act like it isn't enough ?
