Looking for a complete (knob, lighter, socket) cigarette lighter for a 1978 FJ40. Looking for a nice restoration quality one (or one I can clean up and re-paint the logo on).

Thank you!! Looks like this:

I think the free and fair dissemination of information on this site is what makes IH8MUD great. Here, for example, the member posting the question knows all options: used, new from dealer, bells and whistles, or even filling the hole with a blank.

The issue that is rarely discussed is that of vendors or individuals buying up new stock from dealers, depleting that source, and them selling them at exorbitant mark ups. In this situation, Matt, you added value with custom wires, and the buyer has a chance to decide if they want to pay you for that work. What really rips me is when a vendor implies that a product is available without a price, and they don't actually have it in stock, or when a vendor has a HORD of an item in stock but won't sell it for a variety of reasons.

There should be a policy that if someone replies to a wanted ad, they display the price and are willing to actually sell the item by itself - without required ad ons.

thank you for taking the time to reply here mr. ukobeman sir ,

- my current approx. oem parts i purchase from any usa dealer continues to be less and less as time rolls on here ,

i am hovering around 55% ish abroad , and only 24% state side , that difference of approx 20% is and will continue to grow
my passion for exclusively reproducing what toyota no longer does , i cant think of 1 part # i make that they still do ?

maybe im off here , but logic tells me how that is a STUPID idea and also teders on the topic and word i will NOT discuss here , because i take great great lengths to classify ALL the various categories and my , NOS , Restored , Reproduction , and Sema-Spec. Concept Vision parts , using NOT words because in our AMAZON fast world , i have concluded the TOYOTA approach introduced using international language logos , actually works DAM well for what i do too , i have seen a wide range influx of new and exciting cultures and foreign languages from around the globe find us here on MUD in the last 5 years in particular ...

South America

Middle East

AU / OZ

and even JAPAN ...

- this Lighter Topic is indeed a unique one and a good example to discuss here openly too , and transparent , i feel now after reading your take and opinions , i respect your points too , all valid too....

- so , i take the globally available 85500-20042 cig assy , i THEN using the included mini TSB service bulletin , appy it paracticky and 100% correct in every detail so my clients like @dmaddox , will have the correct OEM approved and suggested end product plug and play in hand , knowing that a TOYOTA T-TEN Master Technician , and also TOYOTA Certified Parts Professional preformed that add- on perk ,

- is it feature i hope folks consider , absolutely , but i also LOVE what i do for a living and who i do it for daily too ,

i try not to ever engage in a boast - type self description , in-life , but i am absolutely still the Vintage Land Cruiser Enthusiast 1sy and foremost and the intended Toyota Parts and Service Technical Concierge i strive to be 2nd ....

i only am aware of 2 folks who have past real world TOYOTA Dealership parts experience here on MUD , ? there may be more but i don't know them , one of which is somebody who i openly look up to as a mentor of sorts and aspire one day to possess the TEq @cruiserdan has a lifetime of have going on , .... :) 🎇

- you last point about a posted price , not sure if i fully understand the " required ad-ons " term , please better explain , ?

- i generally add on anything i can to create that plug and play approach experience for folks , because that's how i roll and that will never change ...

- i will also acknowledge that i both approach and have a different way perhaps on this topic you and are discussing :

- in the very beginning days of Erin and My online Parts store now 4 Years this past April 20th ....

- sure i posted a current asking price , but i also introduced a new THING here on MUD classifieds , a 24 Hour / 7 days a week self automated check out procedure , by posting a link that takes a buyer or ..........to complete the purchase in a safe , and issue free , NO MUD PM's , formal brink and mortar online standard checkout , they get tracking # and such ...

- well , prices do change on our end for costs to bring to the table what we do , also even more important , my KIT form products are always growing in contents , some times its necessary to add a portion of that parts cost to the store listing asking price , some times not ....

- i could not have 2 different price point structures out here , a MUD one maybe not up to date , and online store one that cold differ either way ?

- that is NOT fair to the folks i have the privilege of serving or Erin and i too , not to mention id WOULD look SHADY or make us look stupid too , bottom line

- i will touch for a last brief moment on my comments i made yesterday , because i feel this is required , Mr locklaw takes issue with vendors in general , for unknown reasons ?? its my like 8th run in like that and well 8 was enough for me , but what really Ticked me the F, off ! , was he took a cheap swipe at me , fine .... but @kevos37 , is a personal friend outside MUD and also a VERY HONEST small business owner too , he was offering @dmaddox pre-owned ones ...

- this is a good thing here , but do NOT be fooled mr. locklaw was playing games here , and i had to make the tough professional and personal moral choice , i actually struggled with too, for moment ? i placed him on my ignore feature list ..

- i WILL indeed honor my pledge to supply @dmaddox , with a professional sample 85500-20043 kit , and he is free to mention that after he receives it ...

- thanks for letting me share this morning
this was a Important matter in more then one way ....

Kindly ,
matt
