Runs and is currently registered

still in stock condition

i bought it in nashville a few years ago...moved up here to mpls...and havent taken it out even once

as it sits the fenders and doors are off...the interior is mostly gutted...but i have all the stock parts in the garage

needs some carburetor work...but runs ok

needs a brake booster or rebuild...but does stop (like an old truck)

some impact damage to rear right quarter

has a good bit of rust...i had planned to patch in some panels but i think ide rather continue the minimalist thing it has going if i where to keep it...maybe cut the top off...idk

asking $3000

yeah...maybe not with the doors off...

the hood is back on...and if i keep it (if it doesn't sell) i'm going to cut some body panels, roll cage, sliders, soa, and maybe swap for a toy v6, and of course, power steering...

its definitely past restoration...at least for me...

it does great just to the store and back...and the reason i bought it in the first place is because it was so fun to drive around on my buddies farm...

I know it doesn't look like new...but all the panels are there...it is complete...and it runs...

Don't get me wrong, I love all old Land Cruisers and this one certainly has character. It reminded me of that scene with Steve Martin and John Candy in Planes, Trains and Automobiles. If you had Land Cruiser in the pocket of your jeans and it went through the wash, this is what it may look like afterwards :-) Just have fun with it and chop the top off!

I wonder what it would would look like had it been driven in the winter.. :-)

Hit up MNtoyx4.com a good bunch of local Toyota enthusiast in the twin cities.

Would love to see that one up in Gilbert....

monocolor FJ55

Bizzle, do you know when your truck was made, I have a solid blue 1977 that was made in Sept 1976. I have found two other blue and one green monocolors made in Sept 76 also.

dingo,

that's interesting...ill check my vin/id plate this weekend...

i know it's been repainted...there is a lot of over spray in the nooks and crannies...even over what look like decals/stripes...

ill double check the mnfr date and get back to you...

cheers,

dingo,

the tag says Jan 1977 FJ5589918

so just a few months after your other mono-color finds...

and after looking closer, every nook and cranny, even on the inside (no roof liner) is all the same color green...only the outside has the additional green over-spray...

that's interesting...do you know how I might find out how many FJ55s where made? Is mine only the 89,918th one sold in America?

fj40pants,

that's certainly what I'm leaning towards...if it doesn't sell that is...

maybe I'll be moving this to a build up thread over the winter?

cheers

I am not sure if I have ever found any production numbers. I was doing some work under mine and the underside is correctly colored off white. I have spoke with john ward at tlc4x4 and he did not know any reason it would be monocolor, he had seen red ones but no other colors. No telling what was up, it might be as simple as they ran out of white paint. Thank you for the date and vin number maybe some day we will have an answer.
