For Sale 1977 FJ40

Hey all,

I'm listing my FJ40. Sad to see it go - but I run a small bar on Stone way N in Fremont and need the cash to pay z bills!

Here's the complete Craigslist add. I've listed it at 24,500

I purchased this from a fellar in 2014 from Eastern Washington and dropped over 10k into this beautiful rig. I have heard there is a guy selling bad rigs out east. Well this aint one. The paint was redone in 2007- mustard yellow.

The keen eye will note that the Front Window frame is from a '74/5. I don't know why the previous owner elected to do that when he repainted. The hard top is in great shape.

Small Flaws:

One small cancer on the front right fender (not through paint but it's a bubble). The underside of the cruiser is fine. The frame is not covered in rust. There is a tiny bit under driver side floor board. Nothing coming through.

Rear door handle needs to be monkeyed with. Electrical needs some tinkering but was working 100% last fall. I was using as my daily driver last year- it starts up and runs like a top.

Numerous parts, nuts, bolts, locks etc from CCOT and SOR.

COME SEE, COME DRIVE! You're welcome to take it to a mechanic as well! (within reason)

No out of town offers- No BS cashier's check, no nigerian prince's waiting for a windfall. Just cash. No Trades.

A used car dealer in Yakima WA had it for sale. It's really a hodgepodge of various years parts haphazardly put together. It was very obvious the used car dealr had some local backyard talent put it together, Looks like the new ownr fixed a bunch of the problems, but these pics are very generous, I suggest anyone look at it in person before purchase. I passed on it at $8500, but that was several yeears ago. Just looks like a load of puffery" on this add, is why I chimed in.

@Lookingfor40 Hey man, this was never for sale at a used car dealership. It was listed in 2014 for 17,500. I'm still in touch with the owner who actually repainted the vehicle. Thanks for the salt tho. Do you not think people would come look at the truck in person? I encourage people to come look at the truck, drive it, and take it to a mechanic.

I'm a newb on MUD, I get it, I'm not a popular contributor, just started looking again. Now confirmed this seller is a liar, it was for sale by a dealer, he also sells campers and other stuff by appointment only. I'm sure it's the same rig with 3 gallons of black paint on everything under the hood, perhaps now changed since motor overhaul. Was offered to me at $8500 which was not a bad deal but very obvious it needed alot to be correct. Ii think the dealer saw a sucker in Isaac, my intention was to help any prospective buyer not to make the same mistake he did. This FJ40 was for sale by the dealer on Craigslist for months nowhere near $17,500.

Dude - It was on Craigslist. How do you think I found it? Do you think I just wandered over to yakima looking for a truck? Maybe he listed it at 8,500 and then I drove over there and wanted it so bad I threw 17,500 at him. Yeah that's what happened. Honestly, this is a great truck - it's not for you- got it. Stop with the salt. Thank you for your brave keyboard warrior attempt to save someone from buying this truck. I love this truck. Someone else will too. We all know it won't be you. I won't provide any misinformation to the buyer. If I said the truck was a Frame of restoration - i'd be lying. But I'm listing it as a great truck that drives phenomenally. More importanty, I'm asking whoever comes over to DRIVE THE TRUCK THEMSELVES, TO LOOK AT IT, TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC. Seriously, Go fxxx yourself. You're just a negative a******.

If you are going to call a dude out on his rig you gotta provide some legit proof of the so called hacks. Black paint on the undercarriage while can be a red flag, isn't necessarily bad. Beyond that you offered no negative specifics. And the owner, really if he is serious about selling his 40 for over 20k needs to provide significanly more pics than the 4 10 footer pics. Everyone on here who is remotely interested will ask for a dozen detailed pics just to get serious.

How about those engine bay pics? When I saw it in 2014, the entire compartment was sprayed with gloss black Rustoleum ( I actually saw the pale on the woek bench) no taping off, wires, plugs and all. Apparently the motor got a refesh in 2015, sone of it may be gone, pretty much proves i know this rig as the seller refuses to show pics. Already spoke with someone who just saw this truck in person, confirmed my point once again.
