I just put new springs on my 77 FJ40 right now its shackle reversal with High Steer and SOA lift, it is very tight between the passenger tie rod and the leaf spring.

I previously had Alcan Springs, and upgraded to OME leaf springs. CS001F.

My question is if I go from a 3.5 inch shackle to a 5.0 shackle will that increase the distance between the leaf spring and tie rod end? Or is it better to remove a leaf spring, and if so which leaf spring in the pack? Previously I had 6 leafs now i have 7 leafs.

Thanks for your input.

Matt

That shoudn’t make a difference. Your having clearance issues because of caster. If you add more caster (pointing the pinion down with a leaf spring shim) you will get more clearance... which may be necessary to get the alignment right with the longer shackles.
