craigslist 1976 Unmolested Everywhere

For those of us shopping, what the heck is going on here?!

It's sad enough when individual sellers misrepresent their vehicles or play dumb about their FJ40's history and condition. It only takes a little research and advice here on MUD to spot a lot of nonsense.

This looks like a phishing scam of some kind. Just search CL for "fj40 unmolested" in just about any market and you'll get this hit. It varies slightly.

I hope nobody is falling for this. I don't know what's on the other end of the email, but it can't be good.

Yeah I just saw that too, very annoying and obviously too good to be true (and that was before I saw it in all those markets on your post). By the way what is that website or app your searching craigslist with?

It's the iPad CraigsList app.

The app let's you specify multiple locations. Of course, the more you select from the longer it takes to aggregate the results. And it can be glitchy and repeat listings. I wondered if I was seeing a glitch initially, but quickly realized it wasn't.

There's a less reliable Android version. It crashes a lot. WinPhone has a comparable version; I don't recall who make that one.

http://www.searchtempest.com/ is another way to search across markets, but I find it more of a pain to use. The iPad app is much easier.

It's definitely a scam. One like that wouldn't be priced that low, and it's in multiple areas all over on Craig's. I've flagged it as spam whenever I've come across it, and hopefully everyone else will too.

Yeah, people just have nothing else to do!
I adverstise on CL myself and I get these bogus buyers. That ask if I would take less. And that they have no time to see it but will have a shipper pick up the item. I report it to the FBI. Just because it is a waste of my time. And hopefully they can catch these idiots doing this.

I've seen a bunch on the classicbroncos site where people will find out who really owns the truck they used for pics. It's funny to see the reply form the "real" owner who probably has zero intention on selling at any price let alone those prices.
