Tucson Craigslist : https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/5601276881.html
Project stalled after getting drivetrain complete and about half of body work done. My plan was to build up a mechanically sound FJ40 Land Cruiser and upgrade it using OEM Toyota components, if not Fj40, then Fj60. Not trusting my skill as a mechanic, I utilized professionals, (Land Crusier specialists) to overhaul the 2f engine, 4speed transmission and transfer case, front and rear axels (.456 gears, new locking hubs, rear air locker). The Ignition, carburetor (found a new old stock), was upgraded with FJ60 parts. New alternator, water pump, oil pump, clutch, oil pan, tie rods, belts hoses, starter, nuts and bolts, all new OEM. The frame was powder coated along with all brackets sheet metal etc. The body was restored by a body shop by PO, no rust but not painted. I had a cowl from a 1975 grafted onto the body tub to accommodate FJ60 brake booster and throttle linkage. Installed Power steering pump kit (Iron Pig off-road), and FJ60 steering box. Wildwood disc brakes and rear mount fuel tank are the only aftermarket components used. New ARB front bumper-winch mount type installed. Money paid to the mechanics/body shop alone is more than my asking price.
Needs: Body work completed. Brake and fuel lines plumbed. Exhaust, muffler. Steering shaft. Seats. Brake booster/master cyl. Wiring, lights etc.
Title shows VIN from body. Unfortunately, when the front bumper was mounted, the welder ground off a couple of the stamped numbers- and I don't think Mr. T put a vin stamp anywhere else except the front PS frame on these early 40s. The body has a New Mexico VIN plate showing 1975 model. Don't know what issue, if any, this will present when licensing.
A friend has it listed for me on Craigslist because I spend my summer in the mountains out of the Tucson heat. He has had a couple offers, both for over $1k less than my asking price. I thought I would post it here to attract a Mud Member. I will probably take one of the outstanding offers soon (next couple days) or list on eBay. If you are interested call the number on the Craigslist link. You can also try PM me but where I am don't have Internet service due to remote location so a response will be hit or miss.
