FYI - I've had really good luck with this company for rattle can paint:

Touch Up Paint and accessories | AutomotiveTouchup

Someone gave me a can of freeborn red from Cruisercorps and it was much darker than the original paint - when compared to the inside paint color (less faded). That worked out find because it was for under the gas tank. The paint I've gotten from the site above was a really good match. YMMV

Anyone know what spec this air cleaner housing is? Doesn't have the same horn type rail like you see for the pre 1975. Looks like it will work though as appears dimensions are the same.

It is, but I don't think that is spec to what I've seen online. It will do the trick though.

Thanks Jim! I knew someone would have the answer. Guess I'll roll with it.

40 came with extra springs and I got around to pulling them out of the shed and removed the old bushings and some big ass con ferr shackles that were on them. Should clean up nice. Plenty of arch in them too. Any suggestions on bushings? The OEMish shackles I bought have bushings but I might upgrade before install.

Bushings were shot...plus not poly ones. Springs cleaned up pretty good and got them painted and back in the shed for now until I cobble together the last bits for the suspension. Did get some wonky horn and blinker issues ironed out thanks to @davegonz
Cleaned up the brakes last night, but looks like I will need some new wheel cylinders sooner than later. Drums looked pretty good, at least on the inside where it counts. Just need to get it inspected and street legal.

I'll need to pull them out of my shed and measure them. I'll let you know.

Geez..I make no progress. It is street legal now. Took it to Katemcy for Round Up in March, but didn't wheel it. Photo of my Unoman's 40 bumper to mine at his shop and wheeling with him as a passenger at Katemcy. Procured tons of parts, but most of my time and money is going to building a house right now. Hope to have some progress on it this summer.

Forgot I started this thread...ha. Replaced the clutch master and slave as well as suspension and TREs. I still need to overhaul the entire brake system. Still trying to cobble together a hardtop for it. I have everything, but the fiberglass cap had an old leaky sunroof. I pulled it out and need to get the cap repaired. I wheeled it at Katemcy in 2018 and it was great. I still need to replace the Rochester carb with an AISIN I have, which needs to be rebuilt. The Rochester really helps it fire right up, but it runs rich and drinks gas like crazy. Everything is pretty much on hold though as in the process of getting my house ready to sell and building another house, so no time and no $. Plan is to trailer it out to my new house being built and leave it there until I move. Hopefully later in 2019 I'll have time to do some things on it that have been postponed. It runs though and I really prefer the stock setup for driving it vs. the big lift and tires I had on my old 40.
