Best way to remove the water pump? Engine was reinstalled by others with old water pump, which is found to leak. All bolts tightened, still leaking onto timing cover. Truck is almost fully reassembled and now this...

remove fan shroud, fan, and then pump, or does the radiator need to come out. I know I have to drain it, but I'm just using water for now for leak tests. It leaks! test successful.
Leak does not show in photo, but, running down seam of timing cover below the pump.

Can I remove the radiator without tilting the grill. I got the panel alighment just right..Don't want to take it all apart.

I Know, i've pulled the rad without pulling body parts many times. I know I replaced a w/p on my 72 40 back in the 80's and I don't think I pulled the rad, but it's been so long ago, I can't say for sure.

I think one of the bolts needs sealant. Yes you should be able to just remover the shroud and fan blades, then the pump. The new pump backing plate requires sealant before you put it on. There is a nice write around here somewhere.

Lowering the front bib should not affect alignment of the body panels since that is what it designed for. R&R of the water pump is so much easier with the bib lowered and the radiator out. You will have clean easy access and in the long run it saves you time. Just my 2 cents. 😀

I believe the same bolts that hold the fan shroud in place hold the radiator too.
