craigslist 1973 "Custom" FJ40 (1 Viewer)

Browsing CL and came across this gem that I had to share. $40k for a 1973 FJ40 that has "custom rear quarter panels"(rust covers) ,no wiper arms, "custom" ARB front bumper, and no dash currently but it is "being custom made right now". Oh and it has only two pictures on the ad.

This guy's either dreaming or too much of an optimist. What do you guys think??

People see legit 40s actually selling then you see crazy stupid prices all over the craigslist thinking junk is gold.

Yup, pretty ridiculous. I usually see them for like $25-30k but for $40?!

I personally think that's a $15k cruiser if that depending on how rusty it is....pricing an FJ40 has really become a

The "disk breaks" and "tracktion bar" are unique.
Even if you cannot spell you could ask your mother/girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse that graduated from high school to read and edit the ad prior to posting.

And I digress, but 60s as well. Crazy nuts to say the least. I remember SoCal in the early '90s...40s were inflated then, I lived in San Diego.
Over the last 10 to 15 years I've seen both bodies go insanely off the charts.

I was happy in the early days to be on the LCML, and now to be part of this forum. It's a good place for checks and balances for new enthusiasts. And it keeps us old guys honest, too. Let's face it, even some of us can get a little funny or greedy at times!

Half the reason I am even on this site is to drool over y'alls junk....I know I will never afford any kind of sorted 40, 60...hell even a 80.

When someone is asking this kind of price I wish they would make an ad worthy of it. 2 pics and a terrible description of why they are asking 40K
except for a fishing expedition. My .02.
