I found this 1971 fj40 in Colorado. It finally arrived today. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. The engine is out of it for some reason as well as the transmission and transfer case. I'm not sure I want to take the time right now to frame off restore it. I am still working on my 78 restoration and my 72 fst. I have a running 72 parts car I can swap engine from, or I could put a V8 in it and leave it oroginal. Also, I have nevery had a 3 on the tree with vacuum 4wd. Should I swap it to the floor? Any thoughts? Restore or leave patina?

leave the 3 on the tree, I love mine

I have all the parts and pieces for that system, if you come up short on anything.
I have pulled apart a lot of cruisers. Just nothing pre 1972. So I am not exactly sure what all I will need.

If you are going to put the v8 in it, then go ahead and diamond plate the corners and sill and paint it metallic purple. And so it all makes sense, turn the bezel upside down. Or...keep the great patina and leave it as Toyota wanted.
