I'm rebuilding the rear wheel cylinders on my old 40. If anyone has any good pics of the old wheel cylinder parts, please post them up. I've not seen any good exploded pics of them. I'm under the impression that they are different than the later ones I've seen in the fsm and parts catalogs. Do they have a spring and spring retainer like the later ones? IIRC, they had springs but maybe not a spring retainer but just the rubber boots.

Also, on one side the set had been replaced with what I think are front wheel cylinders as they had a single piston not the dual like what I expected from the back. Do these need to be replaced with new rear cylinders or should I just rebuild them and rebuild the others and go on?

Thanks for any info,

You might find what you need in the CCOT "Brake Parts" site.

Try This:

Brake Wheel Cylinders

There are some pix of just "raw" wheel cylinders. It doesn't really show how they go together - but a FSM or Haynes Manual should....

Good Luck -
