1968 FJ40 Three-on-the-tree column shift

I got a rebuilt Steering Box from a MUD Vendor some years ago and am now just getting around to putting it together...

But I found the splines on the end of the shaft for the steering wheel are larger than the one that was removed.

Are there differences in these one-piece boxes over the years?

The larger one is 17mm +

The one that fits is 15mm+

What is the spline count? There was a change around 9/69 from 36 spline to 33 spline for the steering wheel.

edit: it was 7/69 that it went from 36 to 33.

After 15 attempts trying to count splines on the shafts, I've determined I need new glasses. 😡 (or better eyes).

But it looks like the larger 17mm one has 36 or more...
