Oh nice... someone to compare things to. This is going to be my "learn to metal fab" project.

All LV owners get the privledge of learning ALOT of metal fab, in addition many lessons in patience.

Yours actually looks pretty good body wise vs. the Swiss cheese I'm facing.

Have a safe trip across the USA.

Thanks... fingers crossed. This is going to be a long haul.

Some good news! U-Haul e-mailed me about picking up a trailer along my route to drop off near my destination and I get a $300 kick back for my time. Can somebody say gas money? I'm obviously accepting the offer.

Boarding my flight out of Reagan airport... wheel spacers made it through security; TSA agent's dad owned a garage and had to explain to the manager on duty what they were. Thanks to the dude for looking out for a fellow gear head.

Almost there

That's great! I would have never considered putting it in a enclosed uhaul. Great road trip too!
More pics!

Sweating bullets waiting for the next gas station to fill up; made it though it was too close for comfort for a minute. I was using "24 miles to E" as the point to find the next gas station for a refill. That was working pretty good until I crossed into Pennsylvania.

So, the afternoon on the day before my trip; I received a call about a job interview. 7:30 the following Monday morning was as far out as they were willing to push the interview. I needed the trip to be completed Sunday evening in order to make a Monday morning interview in Arlington, VA.

Rick was very accommodating of the situation; I was loaded up and back on the road in the same day I started my journey. Wish I had more time to hang out at Rick's place. He used a mini bulldozer he made/designed himself to assist with loading the wagon. I wish I had pictures of this and his resto-mod Chevy pickup. He was planning on moving the rear axle back on the wagon for better clearance in the rear and from the looks of his previous projects, metal fab was not a problem.

Made it home in one piece. The tow strap & two tow straps w/hooks held up for the duration of the trip. You can see the D-rings were used with a tow strap wrapped around the rear axle to prevent it from rolling forward in a braking situation. I need to drop off the trailer you see pictured before I can get reimbursed by U-Haul for the equipment/transfer. The truck is due Friday. So, I have some time to unload the wagon.

It looks good rust wise from the limited pics and big effort retrieving the old girl. :)

The frame looks very good... still has some of the original paint. I'll post better pictures once I get it unloaded. I'm working on storage arrangements at the moment. I thought I had a garage within walking distance from my home, but I may have missed out on that space.
