If I may... I had a local exhaust shop bend all the tubing for mine. For all intents and purposes, it looks just like the original down pipe to the muffler. I can take pics. From the muffler back, I asked the shop to go over the axle and exit behind the driver's side rear tire instead of exiting in front of it as I see so many do. You can see the pipe ahead of the muffler and where it exits behind the rear tire in this pic.

beautiful LV! One question I have is why did you run your down pipe behind the frame and not on the outside of the frame in the front fender well? The manual that i look at very often it shows coming on the outside of the frame in the front fender well.

Thank you! It was sort of a "kit" LV when I got it. Some assembly required. ;)

I just looked at your pic from the manual. I have that manual too and never looked at the difference, so clearly mine is NOT at all like the stock downpipe. I will say though... The path the exhaust shop took is a more direct and obvious path than going immediately outside the frame rail.

Edit: Come to think of it, the down pipe we took off took the same path as what I have now. I won't swear that what I took off was original, but the muffler and rust sure looked original.

Yeah its my fear that the exhaust shops around where my shop is wont be able to make it like factory :frown:. That's why I'm trying to either borrow someone's original one or buy someone's used one so that I can hand it to an exhaust shop and say please make this hahaha. plus I'm worried there will be a lot of chipped paint because its hard to find shops that take as much pride and care as I do for my customers cars

Calling all LVers that might have an original exhaust for Brett to reproduce...it's one of the few remaining items to finish up the LV for @crustycruise. I have seen this LV resto in person and the attention to detail is incredible. Let's help get this over the finish line!

Awesome build awesome journey you have been through with your LV! I was wondering what you did with your exhaust i noticed in your early pictures that you still had the down pipe coming to the outside of the frame and same for the muffler like original. Did you end up keeping the down pipe and using it with your build or is it up in the rafters of your garage somewhere. One of the last pieces of the puzzle of getting my customers on the road is all the exhaust piping, we have a muffler from SOR but dont have any of the piping. If you or anyone you know has any parts to an LV exhaust please reach out! Thank you and keep driving yours!
My LV didn't come with the original exhaust. PO had changed motor and exhaust. My new exhaust runs on the inside of frame to the back axel arch, then out behind rear wheel.
Nice looking LV that your working on.

When I got into the office this morning, I opened a saved F-Motor manual and found this pic. While not super detailed, it does show the downpipe inside of the frame rail:

this is out of the 45 lv section in repair manual. dated 64 looks to be inside to me. no side shot though.

Gotta luv that center diff.....not sure what they were thinking. My 63 FJ40---with the jeep doors, had that center diff combo.....Bought it for the bezel.

1963 45LV exhaust routing. I probably have other years....but I recall them being the same

my 64 goes inside the frame as in the picture, but the rest of mine is not routed right

Im looking into getting the TOYOTA LAND CRUISER tail gate sticker remade for 64 and 63 FJ45 LVs. Checking to see if anyone is interested. I think they would be around $30.00 each not including shipping.
These would be the same as what Foxfab made a few years ago.

stolen photo, couldn't find one on a LV
