OWNERSHIP HISTORY
Our oldest brother, Warren, purchased this 1966 FJ40 from the original owner in 1974. At that time, Warren was “collecting” land cruisers and this was one of five he owned. The original owner had driven the vehicle about 56,000 miles (this is identified on the title), but something caused the odometer to cease functioning and the odometer is stuck at 16,000 miles.

Warren owned the vehicle until 1988 when he traded it to my twin brother, Frank. During Warren’s time of ownership, the vehicle “set up” for about six years and otherwise received occasional light use on our ranch… maybe 100 miles per year.

In 1988 Frank obtained the FJ40 and it has mostly been in Frank’s barn since then. It has seen occasional, light usage on our ranch, typically around 100 miles/year. So Frank estimates the total mileage on the FJ40 is about 60,000 miles. In 1995, Frank obtained the soft top from a dealer in Colorado, and had the vehicle painted. Originally the FJ40 was yellow, now it is blue.

FAQS
1.Why are you selling this FJ40?
Response: This year the FJ40 turns 50 years old. In Frank's words, "It is a classic model and it seemed like a good time to sell it."

2.Do you have the doors and hard top?
Response: YES. Frank has the hard top and two hard doors. The doors do not have the glass in them, and the hard top does not have the back window.

3.Has the truck been painted?
Response: YES. Originally it was yellow. Frank had it painted blue (present color) in 1995.

4. What is the rust situation?
Response. the FJ40 has very little rust on it. It has mostly been in a barn, out of the weather. The body is not rusted. The floorboards are not rusted. There are a few very small spots of rust on the hood and by the windshield that would require attention. Otherwise the body is in very good, solid condition.

5.The soft top looks new, is it?
Response: NO, the soft top is not new. It was installed in 1995. It is in very good condition… again, it has been in a barn. There is one small tear on the passenger side.

6.Are the seats original?
Response. NO, the seats are not original. I don’t have details, but according to Frank, the seats are actually the only thing on the vehicle that is not original. As mentioned previously, the hood was replaced about the time of painting (1995) with an original hood that Warren had – part of his FJ40 parts collection at that time.

7.How is the motor?
Response. The engine is in good mechanical condition. It cranks easily and runs well.

8.What kind of maintenance has been done on it?
Response. Frank has kept the vehicle up. In the past year he has replaced the starter, master cylinder, water pump, and has rebuilt the carburetor.
