1966 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with soft top.
Been in the family for over 40 years, second owner.
Always stored inside at cabin in eastern Oregon, was only used for hunting and running around the local area. FJ was parked and stored for the last 20 years do to a death in the family. My father in laws last request was for me to take it home and get it running again. It has a small amount of rust in the normal places for a older FJ40, filler panel below tail gate and body mounts in rear wheel wells. Interior is all stock with no tears in the original seats.
Odometer reads 17700, I dont know if it rolled over and actualy has 117000 miles. Being its almost 60 years old 117700 would be 1900 miles per year, if it is only 17700 miles that would be 295 miles per year. Being the previous owner and my father in law only used it for hunting and was stored for 20 years I lean to 17700 but I really dont know.
Original color was Spring Green, the previous owner had the exterior painted a factory beige color. I repainted the engine compartment and interior dash and floorboards in the origianl Spring Green. The transmission had some metal in it so I rebuilt the transmission and transfer case with a few gears all new seals, bearing and gaskets. Rear main seal leaked, installed new front and rear main seal and pan gasket, at that time I noticed it had a lifter that looked bad so I had the camshaft reground to a RV grind and replaced one lifter. I have a large stack of receipts for all the new parts. Runs good and drives like a 1966 FJ. Other than the tires, wheels, RV grind camshaft and electronic ignition this thing is all stock.
