Got the sleep deck covered in poly. Decided to clean the LX inside and out. I even buffed the exterior. It turned out pretty good considering the amount of desert pinstriping.
Should be going out more often since I am pretty much done building the 68 FJ40. Plus the end of summer and high Temps is in sight.
I was in the area so, I stopped to check the old town Scottsdale blacksmith shop ( too bad it's long closed ).
Sleep deck back in the truck and filled with goods. Still working on fridge diagnosis.
Went for a mountain cruise this morning. Got cut a little short as the road was washed out. Only ran half my intended loop. The area has seen a lot of rain this season and it shows. There was also a couple trucks stuck in the washes.....like they were washed into it. The second truck was a Toyoyta and they had a recovery attempt going on.
Great day......there was a fire earlier this year in this area, but I only noticed one small area that burned. The creek all had some water and everything was nice and green.
Went into the area north of where I was last weekend. A friend and I explored where the Crook fire burned earlier this year. Look like the majority of the burned area was just the forest floor not too much of tree canopy. In all, it did not look to bad.
Getting there...............
Found a cool little side road and found this flooded mine.
Went out exploring the Horseshoe Canyon area which is north of Jerome. It's part of the Verde Valley and you can see why.
Cruising along......that's the Verde River down there.....like a small creek.
We got a ton of rain yesterday. So I headed to Mt Union to cruise around. It was so cool, crisp, and fresh. Lowest temp was 54.....most the day it was 62. Nice fall colors too, but didn't get a good pic.

Took a trip up Moss Wash to see some cool mining ruins. Then went up and and across the Hualapai Mountains. Camped up top. Was 37 degrees this morning. Then headed down and visited more mine stuff. Great trip.
This morning we headed to the Boriana mine and then the Copper World mine. Lots of ruins. No tunnels to explore though.
Been awhile since I updated this...... Last trip out I broke a front CV axle. They were Chinese replacements about 2 years old. I was not surprised. Luckily with the part time kit and hubs, getting home was easy. The front end now has new OEM cv shafts.
Went out yesterday exploring some old mining sites. Good times with plenty of tough spots for our group of various build levels.
It was definitely at the limit being open open. The GX and 4Runner were in the same boat. No carnage or damage though.
