dont worry about the part number if it isnt handy - i was already looking on summit's site, but was just wondering about the handle length.

looked like you also got boot with the built-in LED indicator - pretty slick. i think i will go the same route since having the LED up on the dash probably wont look right.

thanks for the info!

Yep, got the ring with the LED indicator built in. I think Lokar sells the shifter, ring and indicator mech. as a pkg, but not sure on that? Of course Summit or Jegs will have that part # also.

I had ordered a catalog directly from Lokar a few months earlier so I could check out all there goodies. When it came time to order I had all there part #'s and everthing they made right in front of me. I know if you go on there website you can fill out a catalog request form and you'll have one in a few days.

thanks for the info. i had already researched the lokar stuff (their catalog is online in .pdf format as well) and knew mostly what i wanted. i just wasnt sure about 1) the length of handle to get, and 2) if i should get the transmission-mount or the floor-mount style. (i am running a th350 with the short downey adapter, so their bracket cant mount up to the tailhousing bolts like it should). but i decided i could work something out for that. ordered up the shifter, boot with indicator, control module, neutral safety/backup switch, and a matching boot for the transfer case lever - just like yours!

thanks again for the help - it is much appreciated!

Little work on the lv tonight, not much. All I did this evening was shoot a coat of epoxy primer over the top of everything that I had previously sanded out, dash, jams, seam sealer, etc...

Also primed a couple other parts that are going to be white, shoot them white the same time I spray the inside.

Also brought up what was left of my windshield to the local auto glass guy in town. He said he could whip one up tomorrow, although no hurry. Going to order up 4 sets of windshield gaskets and keys from SOR tomorrow per/ LandcruiserJunky's recomendation for the windshield, side glass and rear hatch glass.

Might need that windshield next week ;) Hopefully I will be wetsanding tomorrow, hoping to start shooting color on the inside in a couple days.

Damn I wish I had your skills Matt......

You are a bad dude....

Well at least I will be motivated (so I can see some color later) @ work tomm. (My first day back in a week, we had our second child)

Hope that made sense :) Looking good as always matt!

you gotta hang the old windshield on the wall matt! that bullet hole right by the steering wheel kinda freaked me out when i went to pick up the LV.

Got about 3 hours in on the lv tonight. My entire evening was spent wet sanding down the inside with 400 grit and then scrubbing and wiping everything out over and over with clean water.

Used the air hose and blew everything out real good and then wiped it down with DX330 and blew it out again. I plan on leaving work a little early tomorrow to get a start on painting. If everything goes right it should be base and cleared on the inside tomorrow night..........hopefully ;)

Matt, just wanted to make sure you saw Gene's post on the windshield. The FJ40 rubber will work but....the windshield glass needs to be cut smaller.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=77660&highlight=FJ45LV

Yep, saw that, thanks. I actually ordered 4 windshield weatherstrip kits from SOR yesterday, so I should have that next week.

I have another question for you Mike, or any LV owner for that matter. I will take some pics so you know what I'm taking about, but I need detailed pics of the wiper arm shaft assembly. Specificly all the rubber boots, washers and nuts that are stacked up on the arm assembly and what order they go in.

I will take a pic of the parts I have, but I need to know the order of how they go on the shaft, what's in front of the windshield and what's behind also.

Thanks, Matt

Matt,

What are you gonna do for the rubber that goes around the bug catcher/window wing/smokers window?

I desperatly need to copy your move of this one.

And one more request. Would you be able to post your ideas and strategy on getting the line between the dark and light colors perfect. i.e. Do you allow for the colors to overlap each or have them meet right at the edge.

Any by the way. Everything is looking amazing. Thanks for writing the book on restoring your LV.

Thanks,

Dave

I have no idea what I'm going to do for the rubber around the window wing. You tell me when you figure it out ;)

I should have some pics this evening on the 2 tone colors. I had run a stringline a few weeks agon when the doors were on and made marks where I wanted the paint line. I will have to make the marks again because I have sanded them off now, but I had measured from the drip rail before I started sanding. I will be spraying the white first and then back taping and shooting the dark. After all that is done I shoot the clear.

Not sure if that totally answers your question, I'm kinda hoping this evening my pics will answer that for you. One thing that is different between yours and mine is that your using single stage ureathane and I'm using base/clear. You have to wait at least 12 hours before you can back tape. I have to wait about 30 minutes with the base before I can back tape, so I am able to shoot both colors fairly quickly and goto clear right away.

Matt

Small change of plans.....I will be spraying the dark color first and then the white. I just spoke to my body man buddy and he said to spray that first.

Because theres less to spray and back tape he recomended spraying that first. He also said the I would have no problem covering the dark color with white. He said the only color that would give you problems when you tried to cover it with white would be red....it would turn pink he said.

Matt

Ya i don't think the better half would like the pink on there :grinpimp: :grinpimp:

JK. It looks really good so far.
