Matt, we are set to go with the new links and about the 5000 new pics. Just start feeding me info, now that it's to cold to work anymore I gota waste time until I can land a new job...

Few pics of last nights action and during the day today. I have to work this evening so I figured I would put some time in this afternoon.

Well, I now hate something more than sandblasting.........grinding welds smooth on a LV drip edge and grinding the roof down :frown: . I've got about 8 hours into that drip edge and the roof, which I'm not done with. I knew it was going to suck, and it did. Got the welds ground down so at least that's done.

I figure I got about another 4 to 5 hours in the roof to get that ground down and ready for primer, it really does suck......

Also got all the door latches and handles back in, that was fairly easy since everything was fit before.

My body man buddy gets the same pics you guys see on a daily basis so he is pretty up to speed on where I'm at any given time. He called yesterday and said that he's got some time and if I want to bring it up this weekend on Friday night I could. He said we could start doing the finish hammering here and there on the body and start slinging mud. So.....if I get this roof ground down tomorrow night and Thurday, should be good to go.

Lots of other stuff to do on the interior, but that can be done before or after body work. If he's got time and is offering, body work it is this weekend then :)

Figured I would ask this question in my thread vs start a new one.

Question for the lv boys and girls. On each side in the pics are the only 3 holes on each side supposed to be those 3 threaded holes for the seat catch?

The driver side has a couple extra hole just through the tin. The passenger side has a couple more holes and also 2 slotted bolt heads, are they supposed to be there?

I'm assuming each side is only supposed to have those 3 threaded holes on each side, that's it. Just want to make sure before I start welding stuff up.

Thanks, Matt

My LV has only 3 holes for the seat catch on each side just below the windows. No idea what the others are for. You obviously know about the spare tire holder on the drivers side.

It's official.....I'm sick of grinding on that roof now.

Push it hard in the shop last night, even got the wife out there giving me a hand. But, 4.5 hours later the roof is got all the rust off and ready for a coat of epoxy primer tonight.

Couple little things I'm going to take care of tonight, but the plan is to haul it up to my body man buddy's shop Friday night. Start hammering on it Saturday and spreading plastic and then let the sanding begin.........Sounds about as fun as grinding the roof :) .

I had to use the, "It's your vehicle" card last night, but it got her out there for a few hours.

She did a good job :)

i gotta give props to your wife. my ex hated it when i worked on the cruisers cause we were'nt spending time together..........

this is definetly one of my favorite threads in a long time. i love doing as much of my own work as possible as well, but i'm more into the mechanical end of things and fabbing. bodywork is not something i look forward to and will have somebody else do it. luckily i have a body guy buddy as well. props again!

She does pretty good :) I can't get her out there everyday, but once and a while. I usually don't ask for help from her that often, but when I do she gets out there because she knows it helps. I think she's kinda seeing it come together a little more now, so a little excitement for her. She had me get those color test panels I sprayed a while ago out last night and she was comparing the SOR headliner I bought with the Contiental Beige I sprayed. She still has to decided on a whilte. I emailed TLC a few days ago about the white on the 55 in there showroom, but no response, although I didn't think I would hear anything back from them. :frown:

One thing about my body man buddy, he is probably there more for a supervisor type roll :) I'll bring it up to his shop and he will help out, but in his own words, "I'll stand here shortening a Marlboro while you sand"..........

He is really a HUGE help though, he is very good at what he does and enjoys it. If I ever have a question or anything, I can call him up and my questions are answered instantly. I'm sure I wouldn't be doing what I am today without him and his knowledge. It's just nice to have him there when I'm doing this really important stuff, like LV's :D

So, I will get to do lots of sanding myself this weekend :)

No doubt. My wife gives me grief every time I work on cars, yet "spending time together" can just be watching TV. Blows my mind..... I just have to be in the room for her to be happy. I'm going to start working on small parts in the house, then I'll move up to engine blocks. I figure she might let me off then.. :) Having your wife support your efforts on this 45 is HUGE. And it doesn't hurt that you finished a counter top for her either.

Not only the counter, I had to do some landscaping for her also about a month or so ago, right before memorial weekend. :)

Bunch of other little stuff mixed in there also, just trying to keep her happy :D

She'll probably read your comment herself, she surf's through this thread fairly often to read what you guys are saying about the wagon and more importantly....her! :) She wouldn't want to have a bad picture or anything like that now :D

I forgot about sending you that shirt, that's awesome!! That was pretty quick to get from Northern MN to Iraq, about a week and a half??

Why don't you post a pic or something of you wearing it in front of what you drive everyday over there :D You should be able to drive a BJ40 considering what your driving now, although the BJ might be a llittle more complicated for you :flipoff2:

Hey Matt, do me a favor and stop posting some many pictures of you georgous house, awsome cruisers, hot wife, and big muscles! You are making the rest of us inferior! Everything looks awsome though, I relaly cant wait to see the end result of the 45! Great work!

I don't know about the big muscles??? I'm only getting wider in the middle at my age and there's no muscle there ;)

As far as the rest of the compliments.......I'll take take them :D

Had to work fairly hard for all of the other stuff. Took me about a year and a half to do the build up/resto on my 77 FJ40. Built and I am still building the house you see in the pics, started 9 years ago and wife and I have built about 97% ourselves, still have a ways to go especially on the inside. When I bought the lot it was solid tree's, I bought a cat and did all the clearing and ground work myself also.

I even had to work on the wife for about 4 years before she would marry some idiot like me ;p

Thanks for the compliments, Matt

The garage is a bit small tho........:D
