Well, made it all the way to Southern California and back to Minnesota with absolutely no problems. Just shy of 6,000 miles in 12 days, oh for fun!!
Had a blast! Main reason for going was an Ace convention in San Diego last weekend. But, I lived out in Oceanside, CA for a couple years back in 94 to 96. So went out a week early to see a few friends, see a few sights and do a lot of jet skiing in the surf!
Hit Spector, Man-a-fre and TLC on Tuesday, Sept. 27th. Glad George told me to check out TLC, man they got some nice stuff there!! Actually was suprised how many Landcruisers they had on the lot ready to go, and the price

for some of those rigs!! They sure know what they want, but if they can get it I guess good for them! There service manager took us on a quick tour of the place, that was pretty fun. Also, the grey and white LV they restored and sold was in for service so I got to check that out a little closer and take a few pics.
Went to Spector, didn't get to see any of the Spetor's, but still fun to see his collection of stuff. Parts guy took us in back and showed us the LV that there restoring for Toyota, coming along very nicely. While I was there picked up a T shirt and a headliner for the lv

Had the wife look at the door panels, seat covers and welting trim in person, hoping she would come around and accept the color. Absolutely not on the color!! So it's going to be custom upolestry for me.
Stopped at Man-a-fre and met Steve-O, super nice guy! Took us on a tour of the place, was getting near closing time so we didn't have a lot of time. Lot's of stuff in that warehouse also!! While I was there, figured I better pick up that aluminum radiator for the lv, save a couple bucks on shipping
Also about a month before I left, got tickets on-line for the, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show up in LA. Main guest was Clay Atkin......

Cool to see him I guess, 2nd guest was Scott Cann (Ocean's 11 and 12) in some new movie with Jesicca Alba called, into the blue, otay I guess. But then the musical group was WEEZER!! I don't know what kind of tunes you guys are into, but I like these guys. Anyway, I don't know if any of you guys watch that show, but the music groups are outside. So after the 2nd guest between comercial breaks they shuffle you out real quick out back in a fenced off parking lot with a stage. Included a pic of my wife, my buddy scott and myself (the guy in the green shirt) giving the lead singer a pat on the back as he walked by playing and singing, "Beverly hills" That was pretty fun!! After the show was over they stuck around and played another 5 songs. That was pretty cool considering it was free and only a couple hundred people
I could go on and on, probably still will in other posts......But, back to Landcruiser stuff......
On the way back I stopped in Albequerque New Mexico at American Toyota, picked up my new OEM fenders and met Cruiserdan. Super nice guy, wished I would have had more time to hang around and talk cruiser, but had to get going. Had a nice rig sitting out front, maybe next time he'll take me for a ride in it

And thanks Dan for hooking me up with the good deal on the fenders
Also stopped in Denver and met Treeroot, another super nice guy. I honestly believe Mike is trying to corner the LV market and possible the cruiser market all together, he has a lot of stuff and more specficly a lot of LV's!! Mike and I started getting into specifics on LV's while my wife and buddy kinda hung back and watched. I think for them it was like watching 2 kids in a candy store, I personaly kinda got in the zone talking about lv's with Mike as me and him opened hoods, doors and other things going over misc. things.............But, once again, had a long drive home and had to get going. Could have stayed there all day and talked about those lv's, maybe next time
Now, back to my LV....got out in the shop tonight and tried to kick some serious ass!! Neither of the passenger side doors had been started. Went pretty good considering I had been gone for 2 weeks. Had already done one side so this side went pretty good. Cut out the area for the new latch, tacked in the new ones. Then marked where the center of the pin was, cut both jams out and tacked in the new plates. I had saved my paper templates from the other side so I just folded them the other way and they fit perfect. Copied those and tacked everything in.
Both passenger side doors are now closing perfectly. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get back out there and keep welding and grinding the jams and doors. I'm thinking that alone is going to be a couple evening job..
