Got a solid 3 hours work on the lv tonight. Pretty much did what I said, wanted to get those doors cleared.

I had a little over spray on some of the edges of my tape lines. I used some rubbing compound prior to the clear to buff off the beige. I think you can see a few before and after pics. Overall, turned out pretty nice.

In between clear coats I installed my new marker lights and bib/hood bumpers I got from Cruiserdan....I like to see those shiny new parts installed

Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow night. I might blast my hinges and window frames and get those into epoxy primer and start base/clearing those. Or something on the inside, have to think about that for tomorrow.

Keeps all the 45 info in one area for everyone that is interested and is in need of knowledge and parts.......

On another note....

Anyone have the part # or an idea for the rubber weather stripping that glues to the tailgate/hatch area? I don't believe mine had any on there and I'm assuming there was a piece glued to the vehicle, I don't think it was a pressed on piece?

Couple pics of what I'm thinking of out of the JC whitney catalog......maybe I'm on the wrong track here???

The weather stripping I installed (listed above) on my LV (hyperlink to pic below) seemed to shrink ~1" in length over the next 3 or 4 months which left a gap at the seam. Don’t know whether it was me or the product needed to cure (doubtful)?? Most likely an operator error. The stock aluminum trim strips didn’t seem to fit tightly back against the new stripping either but unfortunately I didn’t pay that much attention to the fit when I took them off.

Also - the press-on welting didn’t fit very tightly. Unfortunately at that point I'd already removed the remaining OE clips that were installed on the body seam under the original press-on welting - didnt know what they were for at the time but now its more obvious that they were there to keep the original welting in place. I'd send pics of the clips but I'm a long way from my LV right now. If nobody reading this thread has any of these clips remaining on their LVs I'll see if the place storing my LV will do some pics - he'll most likely come through in a pinch cuz I married his sister..... anything to ensure my LVs well taken care of.

The last time I was in an Advance Auto I saw a boxed press-on weather stripping on the shelf. The profile was round instead of a more stock LV profile but if the product worked better than the JC Whitney product I'd be inclined to try it.

Quick hijack - A couple of pages back someone asked about your cost to recover your seats. Total I paid $1002.58 which included 12 yards of vinyl, 8 yds of burlap, 4 sheets of 2" and 2 sheets of 4" professional grade furniture foam, butterfly springs, and a seamstress ($600 of it) who did the sewing - end result was front and rear seat covers and door panels in a pattern and colors as close to the original as I could get. I left the original horse hair and burlap in place and covered it all with a fresh layer of burlap and rebuilt the foam using the originals as templates. It turned out well for my first time but now I wish I'd copied you in doing my own sewing.

Off topic a bit....but Matt, how tall are you? I'm close to 6'-1" and let me tell you, the 45 pickup is TIGHT! It's a real hoot to drive, but not for long trips at all. Taking the top off helps, but it's a very upright and bent legged machine for giants to drive.

Kinda all over the place tonight. Just not enough time before it got dark to sandblast the hinges and window frames, saving that job for Saturday

Went out in the booth tonight and cut up some refletix insulation to fit inside the doors. I fit the insulation in first and then folded it back and used some Weldwood contact cement to glue it in. Worked pretty good and I think that stuff should help quiet the ride a bit.

Got my CD player, nothing fancy, about a $100 unit off ebay. My biggest thing with a stereo is that is has a knob, not those rocker switches for volume. I had to file a few thousands off in my opening to get the mount in, but no big deal. Few pics of the stereo in with my seat heat switches.

When I was in Texas last week I said I went to Cool cruisers of Texas, I picked up some Tuffy cup holders. I mounted those to my center console tonight. I'm going to take them back off, scuff them up with the scotch brite pad, hit them with a coat of epoxy and base/clear them with the hinges and window frames. Should look nice when they are the same color as the console.

Also, I've been dragging my feet, but I thought I would whip out that new glove box plate that Shane sent me for the auto tranny. Man, that plate is sweet!! There is no way you could tell the difference between his and an OEM one. He also sent me a selection of OEM stickers. Unfortunetly I can't use them all since some don't apply, but a few will be used. The rest will have to go on my 77 FJ40 You are the man Shane, thanks for the goodies and looking forward to getting those freshly plated headlight assemblies

Also tossed up the windshield wiper sprayer nozzles on the hood that Cruiserdan sent me for an 80 series. I know I asked the question, but I can't find the answer. If you remember posting this can you please tell me the post #?? The distance and location on the hood for the sprayers on a 69 to 72 FJ40, I know those #'s are in this thread, but can't find them?
