if so I would have to get a LC console, this is a major oversight by the Lexus engineers >:(

??? ??? ??? ???

Just out of curiosity, what type of 1911 is that, any special mods, trigger, porting, barrel. Is it a government issue or something like a kimber competition model?

G29 fits in the glove compartment and the console.

:)

its a Kimber custom thier cheapest model but still a nice gun has almost all the clasic mods from the factory, very accurate, I have not done much else, Hogue grip , replaced the plastic hammer spring housing with a steel one, no palm swell I have small hands one of the reasons I like single stack pistols, fits me better Chip McCormick trigger the factory one was adjustable but hideously bright bare aluminum went with the black replacement,

before I hijack my own thread and get it moved to chat: still wondering if it fits the LC console

10mm? That is a odd ball, Glock makes a reliable gun but not a good fit for me, don't like the trigger feel either

if the full size 1911 not gonna fit may use it as a good excuse to get an officers model about the same size as your G29 maybe smaller :)

I knew you were a good guy, RT!

Just don't forget to take it out if you come to the PRK! >:(

And, Dan, do you think the "Tank" version would fit in the glove box?
:D

I won't push the issue, but PLEASE remember gun safety when wheeling.

I don't want anyone getting shot on a bumpy road!

Unlikely. The G29 is a small frame, not like the G17/20/21.

Anyone hear about the "firearms safety officer" who shot himself with his own gun in front of an auditorium of school children? He removed the mag and showed the children, there was still one in the chamber so this moron calls a volunteer from the audience to verify that the gun is unloaded (he was trying to make the point that you should always assume the gun is loaded, which is a good point to make, but probably not by giving a school aged child a loaded gun to verify) anyway, he somehow manages to shoot himself in the leg before he managed to give the gun to the child who was standing close to him!!! Can we say &#039:Darwin Award Recipient", well, actually he survived and as the entire auditorium of paniced childred race out, the paramedics raced in to save the guy!!! Must have been a helluva scene!!! Always assume a loaded gun, never take chances like that.

I would guess that presentation will leave a lasting impression on those kids and the point of assuming a gun is loaded was well made. ;)

LOL what an idiot, I took the county run hunter safety course a few years ago (not a big hunter but I like using the government ranges and the course is a requirement) one of the instructors (one of the local sheriffs) did that demonstration the right way, he pulled the mag out of a semi auto pistol and then asked the class (of mainly kids) "its safe right?" pulled the trigger and BANG just a primer no bullet nor power but in a small class room it was quite loud and demonstrated the point very well, gave everybody a good jolt

That was here in town, actually as the story was on the news.....

When the gun went off, nobody knew he had actually shot himself and they thought it was a blank. He then excused himself from the room and sought medical attention.

Sure, his name was John Wayne, so he excuses himself, exits the room and then proceeds to dig the slug out with his spurs, then he jumps on his trusty steed and rides off into the sunset!!! I read on the CNN ticker that the room exited rather rapidly and that he was treated on the stage so who knows, either way, he is probably not gonna go do many more 'educational presentations!' :)

I didn't get to read the story, but did watch an interview with someone in the room. He described the "victim" as being exceptionally calm and he pointed to the door and said something like, "He stood up and said 'well, that's it' and then walked out that door."

Although the panic spin certainly adds some drama.

I calm manner like the one described above would absolutely indicate he has practiced this many times! Probably the only way to control the adrenaline dump. Practice makes perfect, wonder how many holes he has in his legs!?!

If you have a leather interior with the two-stage console a full size 1911 will not fit in the upper compartment. It wiil fit in the lower.

A 5906 S&W will just fit in the upper.

I've learned to only go with OEM, so Dan, what's the OEM sidearm??? :D Perhaps a 50 cal machinegun mounted to the factory roof rack!!! ;)

I just checked fit in my '93 Land Cruiser center console and it fits fine. If the console is empty, it will even lie flat on the bottom of the compartment. This was with a Springfield Armory Stainless 1911-A1 .45 ACP Hogue grips with a rubber grip on the bottom of the clip and the hammer in the locked back position with an empty chamber. I also had it in a Gould & Gouldrich suede sleeve holster.

One comment on the "live" demonstration mentioned above... anyone who brings a gun with live ammo in it on a stage with a bunch of children in the room ought to be banned from teaching any type of gun safety or firearms class!

What an idiot!
