ugh, i hate posting a thread like this but I can't seem to find any good threads regarding tire options on the OEM 18" wheel...

so really if either someone can point me to a thread/reference that'd be okay too - but if not the questions sorta go like this...

tallest w/o a lift
widest w/o spacers
largest overall w/o either spacer or lift

recommendations?

Our driving pattern is mostly onroad, but when we go offroad it's fairly aggressive, non crawling, non bogging type hardish trail - rarely in the sand except at the beach ... We travel to Colorado 2-3 times a year so snow traction is important but not the most important... I'm leaning towards BFG ATKOs - they are a bit more agressive than I need but have great wear, good all around tire....

I've had great luck with both the BFG AT's and the MTs, as well as the pirelli scorpion ATs ...

the poor 100 had some terrible replcaement tires put on it and they simply won't balance, that and i have a factory spare that is not the same size making it basically useless.... (the 100 had some discount tire brand AT's put on it... they are complete ass... unfortunately they were on it when i bought it)

Seriously, I hate posting this - even I am tired of all the tire posts - but it seems like everyone has switched to the 16" wheels and I just don't have that option... If anything I'd like some newer titanium grey 18s ;)

Those are the same questions I have and have found very little on here as far as the 18 inch wheels, also some pics would be great, the few pics I've seen with 18 inch wheels appear to make the tire look smaller!

Nitto Terragrapler AT 325/65/18 on LX470 - Fit with AHC set on high but would still rub on the front when going fast on dirt roads and the suspension compresses. Flattened pinch weld on back of wheelwell. 1.5" wheel spacers all round. Could do with 1" spacers.

Nitto Terragrapler AT 325/60/18 on 2002 LC - 2" lift. Fit but rubs A-Arm. If you fit front 1.5" spacers it rubs on wheelwell. Have not tried the 1" spacers yet.

Nitto Terragrapler AT 285/60/18 - Fits with 2" lift and will probably fit at stock height. No rubbing on Wheelwell or A-Arm

Those are all the ones I have run.

I use the Nitto Terragrappler 275/70/18 (33x11.50). They fit well on stock as well as lifted rigs. Good all around ratings; perform well dry, in the rain and on light/moderate trails (so far).

A couple of guys are running 285/65-18, no lift, no spacers. 315 seems to be the threshold on width (whether 33 or 35"), some 315's fit w/o a spacer and some don't as they rub the upper A-arm.

Dimension wise, I think 295/65-18 or 285/70-18 would be on the upper border of what you could run (no lift, no spacer) but AFAIK, nobody makes such sizes.

With a little bit of lift, I'd be interested in a 285/75-18 (35" and relatively skinny) but I only see it in a Toyo OC/AT right now.

Revo's or AT's...?

I have 275/65/18 REVO's and love them, no lift. Below are the options from tirerack.com (I love their site!!)

RECO's ride awesome on the road (90% of my driving) quiet and handle great. Had them in lots of gravel, dirt, light mud on fishing trips and they do really great as well. What don't I like? I'd like a hair bigger in width and height, and they "look" like a normal street tire, wouldn't mind a bit more "bite" looking. They have a somewhat shallow tread depth (11/32 vs 16/32 fo the BFG TA).

I am actually thinking about the BFG TA 305's as the next set - BUT they are  PRICEY!! ($100 more PER TIRE than the REVO's..)

I'd also consider the NITTO's and Toyo AT - both ones people seem to like a lot.

I don't think you can go wrong with ANY of the 4 mentioned above, so I'd choose on price, looks and any "special" use cases where one might slightly out shine another...

Alos consider I bought a same size spare and it BARELY fits - the larger BFG AT might get REALLY tight or not fit at all.. something to consider.
