Thanks for the pic. Simple looking100, and narrow and tucked in aka conservative that plain works.

Thanks I like thing simple;)

The point to my post is the discussion is tire size vs rim width. Both of the tires listed above are approved for a 7.5 width rim. What tall tires were you looking at that would be unsafe with a 7.5 rim?

Again....Please post a picture of your rig for reference

The narrowest width that Toyo recommends for their AT tires on a 17x12.5 is 8.5". Most 17" wheels that I've looked up that fit the LC200 are 8s.

This guy runs 325s just like me on 18x9" wheels. Ain't she pretty?

I do like the white simple look

I have never been a wide tire guy but my narrow tires would not be spinning on a little bump like that. Can you explain why or is it just a picture you found on the WWW?

The barn door 200s come with 17x7.5 steelies and 245/70(75) r17 tires.

Need to double check on the height but I'm 100% sure on the width.

I'm not sure how toyota decide on tire/wheel combo if it's due to engine or trim grade

I would love to find a set of narrow factory 17" alloys hint hint

overlake challenge is finding a wider rim (required by the manufacture) to fit 325 width tires. Personally I would have not problem running a 7.5 rim. The ability to air way down over a wide rim would give one a traction advantage.

There are oem and "fake" steelies just as durable and dirt cheap. Discussed it with another mud member regarding shipping but it turned out too expensive. If anyone has a way for cheap shipping or would consider sea freight that could work.

These are the 17x7.5

I had steelies on my FJ40, and they were great. Not pretty, but definitely got the job done.

Can you post up a picture of your rig so we can all get a better understand on your needs?

edit: I know we are in the 200 section but the discussion is tire size and rims
Pictured my 100 series with 295/70-18 34.41 recommended rim 7.5-10

I looking to go to 17" for a more ideal size for my needs of 285/75-17 33.86 recommended rim 7.5-9.5

Sure is pretty, Phil.

Another pick of the 7.5" steelies. These tires are 285-70R17 load range E.

I went down to 255-75R17 load range D now to see how they'd handle in the sand, moving down these tires are much lighter and put more power to the ground opposed to the 285s, in my opinion wide and heavy tires don't work so well in the desert especially when outside temps start rising as the gear box heats up pretty quick trying to rotate them. (I'll get some pics of the 255s in the sand.)
As well on tire recommendations I wouldn't listen to a tire manufacturer to tell me what size wheel and tire i should run, that info I'll get from the vehicle manufacturer as they know the limits of what they've built, be it shafts, axles or anything else in the drivetrain that is affected. End of the day with tires functionality > form for me. No use in having a good looking truck that can't leave tarmac as I bought this for the desert.

Does anyone know the complete set up of the White truck pictured above? Thanks

Hey MScruiser, thank you for the link. My Duratracs have been great but they are on their last leg, and now they are obnoxiously loud.

Murph, how many miles did you get out of them? I've got 30k on mine and they look almost brand new and are still have very little road noise...

I'm not 100% sure but I've got to have 50+ on them. And i probably have another 10,000 miles till they really needed to be replaced.

I think the 17" and maybe 16" steelies were available in Mexico. I remember reading somewhere a supplier used to get them in bulk and sell in the US.

Just found the 17" alloys come on the Mexican 200s. The stock ones have a ridiculously high load rating and can take a beating. If anyones interested this might be an option.
