14 Bolt axles in Land Cruisers

Bumping this up again. How are the cut & sleeved 14 bolts holding up? I’m in process of building one now and trying to convince myself that this is the way to go.

Also, still in the fence about messing with 6-lug stuff. I’m going to end up with an 8 lug front axle eventually, just a matter of time.

Cut and sleeved axles hold up just fine. I'd still fully weld the tubes to the center section. Cut and sleeve is the way to go over pressing tubes out though, for sure.

Make it whatever width, offset you want, you can always get custom shafts too.

Do it.

Oh and when you do it, shave the housing too. Stock 14 bolts are rock anchors.

Sleeved holds up just fine (see my 2010 post when I first installed). Just pulled it out to clean up for a 4-link.

I don't think the shovel is "dreaded". In a SOA config, with a DC rear driveshaft, it points up far enough to not shovel and does an excellent job of protecting the lower u-joint.

Added benefit, when spotters tell me I'm hung up on the rear diff, I never have any worries about hurting it!!
