Its been a while since I posted anything however I want to upgrade the Turbo in my 13B-T as I am looking at changing it from the Turbo coming in boost at the current 1800 RPM to start at around 1000-1200 RPM to give me more usable jungle/bush power.

I currently have the stock CT26 turbo so any advice on the next step will be gratefully received.

Yes I will be trying to find room somewhere under the bonnet to put an intercooler also however it is a little cramped with dual batteries etc. We have left some room after the 22R to 13B-T conversion in front of the radiator for an intercooler.

Technical advice on 13B-T turbo replacements a little hard to get here in Malaysia as most modded jungle bashers run 15B-Ts.

I will post pictures of my factory ELECTRIC locker to aftermarket AIR engagement conversion and PTO Manual engagement to AIR engagement soon as I get the truck back from the workshop with its yet again brake failure.

We finished the build

13B-T engine rebuilt
14B-T fuel pump with mods done to it
13B-T cam
14B-T timing gear to smooth the idle out
14B-T sump
7M CT26 turbo.
New valves, pistons etc.

did 700+K and then it blew something.

CUrrently it is dead the HEAD had been skimmed too many times and we think it is too thin and the head gasket blew which is why it spat all the coolant out.

However it did go very hard when it was running :) unbelieveable difference. Even way better than my previously modified 1HZ turbo engine.

We are in process of sticking in a new head - this week. I am putting in a intercooler also before the thing is started again. Not much room for an intercooler from what I can see - Also attracts the attention of the ROAD TRansport guys and I really don't want them lifting the bonnet that would be real bad news. If I was putting a top mount in I would also include a fan under it for more cooling in slow going.

I tried to find a post on INTERCOOLER sizing can someone tell me what size intercooler I need I got this inforamtion from a local tuning shop who are guzzlers specialists and not oil burners
I would recommend the below intercooler :-
510X240X65 (2.5”) = RM580
450X300X76 (2.5”) = RM580

I need a formulae so I can work out the correct volume the bottom intercooler listed has more capacity by about 30% can anyone advise any further please? I relly don;t want to get it wrong.

Once this is finished I can move onto the front locker and redoing the front bar and a roll cage and harness seatbelts and mounting the spare XD9000 on the rear as 24V and removing the other rear side window and putting alloy in.

After some research I was advised not to put a bigger turbo or smaller one on it as it may become undrivable - smaller to bring the boost in earlier would result in not being able to pull out of mudholes when I needed a few more revs. Bigger I did not need II do not rev my diesels hard. LEaving it as a CT26 would give me the drivable rev range of 1800-3000 revs.

However when we put the 14B-T fuel pump and the 7M CT26 turbo from a SUpra in wow it needed nothing else its very reactive to a touch on the gas pedal hit 2000 on the tacho and plant the foot and it will spin the wheels even with 35" sneakers on it in low or high range offroad. I Will try and cut a video on u-tube when it is all finished. Just awesome.

cicak:

Do you have an EGT gauge there? I am wondering what EGTs you get with the 14B-T IP.

I know this is an old post, reviving it! Did you use all the 14bt gears? I noticed the 14bt has one more in the bottom right corner of the engine, I would like a smoother idle! Thanks
