If you use a screw gun, assembly on the floor will take you about 30 minutes. Erin and you could lift it, but you would need step ladders on each side of the truck. (Kitty and I managed it, but I also wrapped the cleats with dishtowels and rubber bands as we did so.)

Drilling is something I would do after at least mounting the side rails, so I could mount the rear and middle brackets, then mark through the forward bracket. Then remove the assembled rack.
 
Thanks guys. As far as I can tell, no drilling required. The feet are not part of the side rail and it uses all 6 factory GX mounts. So sounds like mount feet on truck loosely, assemble the rack on the floor and then set it up top and adjust height accordingly. The fairing has a rubber molding that keeps it from rubbing the roof.

I know Erin and this will have to be done tonight. She will loose her marblea if I make her wait.

Follow-up, just some silicone onthe bolts to help seal? Anybody like one over the other? I got some black FIPG laying in the garage that I could use, did Toyota use that on coolant connections or only oily stuff? I can stop for some permatex on the way home if that would be better.
 
Great that you don't have to drill. Cordless drill driver gun will make short work of installing cross rails.

Yeah, any FIPG like substance should work, goop it on near the head of the bolt - not the end of the bolt, otherwise you'll just push it into the headliner material.
 
How is DigDug coming along Rick? They got all those shiny parts bolted on him yet?

Dig-Dug is back, but still more to do. We leave for Sante Fe a week from Saturday.
In order of importance:
  1. Reinstall winch in bumper
  2. Reinstall bumper
  3. Install dual battery
  4. Install (borrowed) RTT
  5. Reinstall air compressor, reservoir tank(s)
  6. Install skids
  7. Rewire lightbar on bumper (switch/relay already in place)
  8. And if time allows (haha), paint fender tubes and rear bumper to match front bumper

Its dark so I will have to grab some daylight pics tomorrow, but took a couple hours start to finish. Got two buggered up holes that I'm going to try and chase in the AM, and the way the mounts are made it basically self centered itself. Pretty straight forward and most importantly momma is happy.

I also grabbed a few day time pictures. Overall it seems to be a well built unit. I think the most interesting thing that separates it is that the fairing actually rests on the roof. It comes with a heavy duty weather stripping that goes along the bottom and cushions it against rhe roof.

The side rails are also made to accept a couple of task lights on each side.

Base unit comes with 8 rails, but there are 2 additional spots that could accept a cross rail over the sun roof opening.

I think the total install took us a couple of hours including removing the old, hunting for tools and figuring out how a 4'10" girl was going to assist in walking the rack up onto the roof. Hint: the answer involved proximity to a trailer, but no pictures of that. All hands were required to keep from trashing the roof.

As a whole, I'd recommend them. All parts came well packaged to prevent damage to the coatings, hardware was labeled well and in separate baggies. Only thing lacking was any formal instructions, but the hardware is labeled for what it is used for, and to be honest, if you can't figure it out, well you probably shouldn't be trying to assemble it anyway. It seems solid, but with all our errands this weekend, the RTT test fit is going to have to wait til next weekend. Probably try a little back yard camp out with the runt as a proof of concept before we haul her off into the woods.

Got the lightbar to squeak by the winch controller by shaving a little off the bezel with a flap disc. Now I just need to finish up the wiring. The body shop made a mess of the harness that I zip-tied up against the firewall.
