Does anyone have a pic of a single winch panel installed in a 62? I would like to install one but want to see what it would look like first. If you have another type installed I am not necessarily sold on 12volt's panels.

Any pics are appreciated.

Also, any Ramsey Winch owners who have had trouble with the winch not free spooling? I can not get the clutch to disengage so I can pull the cable off of the winch.

Thanks.
Kenley

I put one of the double panels on my 40.
Sorry that it is not on my 60.

I will say, He goes out of his way to provide EXCELLENT customer service and a very reasonable price (if you consider the stuff he is actually using)

I bought another one of his panels for my Off road race car. Nothing but good things to say about Seabass :)

i have not finished the wiring yet but got my console build (not me a buddy @ work build it). it would not fit in the dash anywhere..

You didn't mention which Ramsey winch you have. I have an older RE 8000 that the clutch is sticky sometimes. I can't say it has never released but sometimes powering the cable in and out a small amount has allowed the clutch to release.

When was the last time you did any maintenance on your winch? If there is no damage to the winch or the mount it just may need a good cleaning and lubrication. (Mine is coming apart this winter for leaking seals and a stripped out drain plug) I have also had good luck with the Ramsey website, both for parts and tech info.

Best of luck

The winch has not been serviced since I have owned the vehicle which has been at least 7 years. I also suspect that the PO did not service the winch at all.

As a matter of fact, I did not know that they required service which is a bone head assumption on my part. I used it over Christmas but it freespooled good when I used it. I am pretty sure I have an RE 8000 as well but the label is where I can not get to it to confirm.

What general maintenance should I do? I will refer to the Ramsey website as well for some winch TLC.

Thanks for your help.

If you have an RE 8000 there is a grease fitting or should be right above the clutch release, other than that it's pretty much make sure the gear boxes are filled with the right oil, the spur gearbox takes 20W and the worm gear takes 80-90W. Also periodically run the cable in and out to get the motor hot which will keep it dry. Clean eledtrical connections and mounting bolts, change the oil periodically, etc

I downloaded a manual from the Ramsey web site as I bought my winch used. The easy way to tell if you have an RE 8000 (or older similar model) is to see if the motor is 90 degrees to the cable drum, this winch is a worm drive, not a planetary model which has the motor in line with the drum. Don't worry if you can't find a model no, my winch is older and it doesn't say RE on it anywhere. Also I don't know of any other models that have 150' of cable.

Best of luck
Tony
